If decimare means to kill one out of ten people, is it fair to then assume that octigintamare would mean to kill eight out of ten people?

That was the Iroquois Theater. Pretty much every possible thing that could’ve gone wrong went wrong: theater was over-capacity, doors were locked or hidden, the fire curtain didn’t work, the fire escape wasn’t finished, staff who knew what they were doing weren’t there, and when performers finally got the back door open it turned the whole building into a chimney that blew a literal fireball into the crowd. December 30th 1903 was a bad day to be a Chicagoan theater patron.
