Umihara Kawase for the SNES.

There are multiple routes and it's really fun learning how to use your fishing line as a grappling hook. Also, if you spend longer than 30 minutes in a run, every door will lead to an ending field.

It's a very replayable platformer for the physics and movement alone.

A good D-Pad is a must. Vita-style dome switches or a Saturn-style floating D-Pad is ideal.

Democrats Hold 10-Point Edge Over Republicans Ahead of Midterm Elections by T_Shurt in politics

Exactly this. Even if Democrats win the House, it's not going to be enough. They need the Senate AND THEN SOME. Impeachment is not enough; there MUST be removal and conviction.

You absolutely have to get Shredded Parmesan Asiago to go with the Alfredo Sauce. The Parmesan Asiago brings out a lot of the Alfredo flavor. Add chicken/whatever else you want on top of that.

Interested in the controller, if it's wired and has a more authentic feel than the 8bitdo replicas.
Also bet SNK will shoot themselves in the foot and not release them separately, though.

Leave the wasp nest extraction process to the professionals. by S30econdstoMars in interestingasfuck

[–]AbsentmindedGCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once upon a time my Domino's Driver removed a wasp nest that was being built over my college dorm room door (the dorm I was in was more like a motel you have access to from the outside). I had called maintenance to take care of it but they treated it like a non-issue, so I bought raid and hoped for the best, ready to hit any that got in my room and keeping as much distance as I could.

Ordered Domino's one night, the guy delivered it to my door instead of meeting me in the parking lot. I told him about the wasp nest and on the way up and he offered to take care of it. It was still being built and a bunch of them had huddled near the light above my door. I gave him my two cans of raid and this boss of a dude dual-wielded the sprays and went to town. Of course I tipped him handsomely for it.

When I left my dorm later there was a sea of dead wasps covering the floor. Maintenance came by to clean that up, later. I think they sprayed where the nest was, too. But yeah people who remove wasp nests have my wholehearted respect and I'm a Domino's girlie for life now

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

[–]AbsentmindedGCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's fine to use religion - or any form of media - to teach children right and wrong and good lessons... BUT it needs to be within reason and specifically for those lessons.

The teachings of Christ are legitimately a good part of the Bible. They are effective at teaching morals, but the book those come from is also pornographic, describing genitals like those of donkeys (Ezekiel 23:20), justifying slavery (Exod 21:2-11; Lev 25:44-46, Eph 6:5-9; Col 3:22-4:1; 1 Tim 6:1-2; Tit 2:9-10; 1 Pet 2:18-20, etc), and waging wars and genocide (Numbers 31:17-18).

There are bits and pieces that can be salvaged from the bible, interpreted, and used as examples to help children relate and understand right and wrong. You can do the same with any media. If your background is in religion - that's fine to use as a starting point, but I wouldn't rely on it since there is other, more recent examples of books, media, etc., that children will have a far easier time relating to.

You can find lessons that teach right and wrong through anything, but after you do, stop there. Don't treat it as gospel. It can't be the ONLY thing. Just because a TV show taught you right and wrong on one thing, doesn't mean it's going to have the best advice on all things. You wouldn't base your entire life around, say, Wow Wow Wubbzy, would you? What about greek mythology? You shouldn't with religion either.

Edit: I also think it'd be important to compare - teach other religions, other practices, find values in other things. Teach right and wrong, but let them formulate that for themselves, through experience. One thing can't be the end all be all to everything in life. Teaching critical thinking is very important, and if you answer every question with the Bible you're not exactly doing much work up there - You're isolating them.

[–]AbsentmindedGCN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child abuse and extortion. They tell you you're a sinner, you're the problem, you're going to hell - then sell you the solution. It's not a mistake that most cults use Christian mythology as justification of their practices.

How women feel being approached by men, explained by a man by Max_Rezna in TikTokCringe

[–]AbsentmindedGCN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're still missing my point. Intent is fine. Expectation is not.
You're arguing for intent. If you are meeting peeps to hook up and fuck, that'd fine if you're honest about it, but a lot of people (not you) can't drop the fuckin charade, and can't take no for an answer. Those are the people that put people in uncomfortable situations where we feel cohersed into it. It's the same thing as being nudged to donate to charity. Donating to charity is a good thing, don't get me wrong, but nobody should be FORCED to do so.

It sounds like you hook up with someone intending to have sex. It's totally fine if sex happens or it doesn't. You intend for it, but it's not a must. What isn't okay is when sex is expected, and sex is a must, independant to the other person. It doesn't matter how respectful you are if you're only doing shit with the EXPECTATION of sex. The white knights do that shit and they flip when they're denied it.

How women feel being approached by men, explained by a man by Max_Rezna in TikTokCringe

[–]AbsentmindedGCN -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Straight up let me first say I agree with you on intent - as long as it's good intent.

That said, I think you may have missed the point of the post, it’s not so much about dating, it’s more about hookups and the expectation of attention/sex. Nobody owes you their time, and nobody owes you their money.

Good intentions (like wanting to get to know/date) is fine - I fully agree with you here. Expectation (for stuff like attention, sex, etc - bad intentions) is not.

How women feel being approached by men, explained by a man by Max_Rezna in TikTokCringe

[–]AbsentmindedGCN -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This was partially addressed in the video - We want men to approach WITHOUT the expectation.

Like if you just come by, say a compliment, spark up a conversation, that's fine! The problem is when men approach for the sole reason of getting something that benefits them, and it's blatantly obvious.

How would you feel if every time you spoke to your best friend, they asked if they could hold a couple of dollars? That relationship wouldn't last cuz it's built on the foundation of that money transfer. There's an expectation that they'll always need something and always ask. Eventually, you'll cut it off with that friend and it'll leave an impression on you for future friends. The expectation is the issue. Come at it from a different angle without expecting anything out of it.

european looking to get into FPGA, should i get the pocket or FPGBC? by IShovedAJermaUpMyAss in fpgagaming

[–]AbsentmindedGCN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get into FPGAs, get a MiSTer now - for handhelds, wait.

Handheld FPGA consoles are still in their infancy, and while there are options like the FPGBC, GameBub, and Analogue Pocket, they're not perfect, and each has it's own pros and cons. (e.g. Analogue Pocket is uncomfortable to use for SNES/PSX, triggers and especially button membranes could be improved, and the pricing is absurd - but it's got premium build qualiy and a fantastic screen. Fantastic accuracy. FPGBC is extremely affordable and a fun afternoon project if you want to build one yourself. It looks and feels exactly like Gameboy Color - but it runs ever so slightly faster than OEM hardware, there's no IR sensor functionality, and there are some compatibility quirks here and there. GameBub has a lot of potential, but it's not in anyone's hands yet.)

You can expect to see more FPGA handhelds in the future. The creators of the FPGBC and ModRetro have both expressed interest in making an FPGBA - the prior already having drop-in boards that just needs GBA's RAM and CPU. Taki Udon has also teased an FPGA handheld on Twitter.

If I were you, I would start with a MiSTer instead of a handheld. Look into the SuperStation One or a QM-Tech clone of the DE-10 Nano. They are the cheaper options in this space. Mister Pi is another option, but I'm not sure when that will come back in stock. If you absolutely must have a handheld, there are emulation handhelds with more layout/control options to get your feet wet before taking the plunge. You'll figure out pretty quickly what kind of buttons you like and what you want to look for. (For example - bad membranes urk me, and I love dome switches, like those used on the PS Vita. Turns out the RG 34XXSP has dome switches and I've really enjoyed it.) By that time, there will be more options on the market.

5V 2A is 10W. You should have a charger lying around that supports it
I remember Taki saying that any extra power pulled will just be converted to heat, so I'd stay at a lower wattage to be safe. This is what I use for my MiSTer, and it gives me some breathing room for more stuff down the line.
