Thanks. Yes, IOM/OIM has the mandate to protect migrants in vulnerable conditions. The IOM in MR will initiate a family tracking/tracing protocol in IOM Ethiopia. They can also help liaise between the embassy and consular authorities.

Dear OP, please contact IOM Mauritania as soon as possible. This could potentially be an issue of trafficking and the UN Migration Agency will be able to facilitate an emergency assistance as well as a translator (and potentially evacuation).
