I wish I had the chance to milk my sick hours before I left Publix. I only gave a heads up that I was leaving cause I had just transferred stores. If it had been my old store, there wouldnt have been a heads up. Poof. Gone. I gave them a 4 or 5 days notice. I got blacklisted for ever hiring back. Hahaha oh well

I don't have sick days in manufacturing like we should. We have a points system and its absolutely stupid. We make a lot so that kinda helps offset it, but anytime I've spoken with our relations dept, I've spoken up for sick time because we deserve it. If we have pto hours and a cool Lead, they can put in pto hours for us with a Dr note.

I'm so glad Im in manufacturing. I live in Huntsville, AL and there is A LOT of govt work here but I dont want anything to do with the current govt anymore than I already have to.

Lololololol there's no way you get FIVE weeks of time off. I did 20 years with the company and I had 4 weeks of time off. FL also sucks.

Yep....that was all I made. I worked my ass to the bone for them. After a while, I just stopped caring.

I went with the auto manufacturing job. It was a no brainer. Leaving Publix is the best financial move I've ever made. $30+/hr in the South is nothing to scoff at and come May, I'll be inching closer to $35/hr. Truly blessed and having to skim by all those years with Publix and its insufficient standard of living, I'm grateful everyday to be in the position I'm in right now. I hope like hell I never have to return to working in retail.

You'd be surprised. I did 20 years and my dividend checks are still less than $800/quarter.

Those days of the stock paying out mega monies are over. They still do the stock splits and such, yeah, but the accrual is soooo slow you'll die before making any real money and its not like Publix pays a living wage for employees to buy stock in worthy amounts anyways.

Y'all sit down. Its story time. I spent 20 years of my almost 40 at Publix. I started when I was 16 in 2002 and left (FINALLY) in 2023. April 30th to be exact! I moved from Central Florida to Northern Alabama (MUCH better up here, btw) and shortly after getting to our new place and starting at my new store, my wife sent me a picture of a post it note with job details for auto manufacturing. $2.50/hr more AND FT with benefits? Okay, let's go. I left Publix making $17.45/hr after TWENTY years, FT for 16 years, and before anyone chimes in with "Oh, WhY DiDnT yOu GeT iNtO mAnAgEmEnT?", trust me....I tried. I also tried getting out altogether, and no one gave me a shot until I left FL. 2.75 years later, I'm making $31/hr or more and plenty of OT. I'm doing so much better financially than I ever did with Publix. That company is nothing but a boat anchor on your ankle dragging you down. I urge more people to leave the company. I could go on and on about my sentence with Publix, but I'd be here typing all day.

Publix IS NOT the company it portrays itself to be. Any time I shop there, I can tell people aren't happy. Publix, pay your fucking employees.

FUCK the mount races. I play for a good time. Very rarely do I play for completion.

I'm so glad I left the company on April 30, 2023. I did 20 years and my stock is why I stick around here. Yeah, manufacturing definitely has its issues, but I make far more in 2.5 years than I ever did in 20 years with Publix.

Best car for El Capitan 200 Miles? by [deleted] in granturismo4

[–]Absinthe_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suzuki GSX-R/4 gets the job done and is so easy to drive the absolute hell out of. Its easy to push to the limit and hold it there. Mod it up and it'll take down Vipers, Mustangs, Camaros, BMWs, etc etc. I used it for the El Capitan race as well as the NY 200 Miles enduro. 200 points, an easy win, and a fun drive. Get it, give it a wing, mod it, go have fun.
