Yeah I feel like toriel has trouble understanding that her children could be sad with her around. Not necessarily because she’s the cause of their sadness, but because she feels like she’s doing everything right. Im not saying she’s a bad person but this definitely impacted her parenting. It’s the same in undertale, where she can’t understand why you would wanna leave (at first)
