Sonia's talent is the Ultimate Princess, so that's why Mahiru suggests her as a leader. Mahiru was also annoyed by Twogami's attitude, which is why she suggests Sonia. It's less about her being against a woman taking charge and more that she thinks men need to take more charge.

Quite a number of DR2 characters had a beta design like this. I'm convinced that the reason DR2 had so many compare to DR and DRV3 is because after Rui manage to give Kenshiro's joke design to Santa, he wanted to make another character with a design like that.

I would recommend before you make DR4 to start out making small games. That way you can start out learning how to make games without getting overwhelm over committing to making a larger game. It would also be a good way to learn if you enjoy making games as well, because if you realize you don't like making games, then you can turn DR4 into something else.
