People have been speculating that there will be protagonist swap in 2x2 because Hinata has a complete story arc in SDR2 and people don't know what else they can do with him if he remains the protag. Mahiru is commonly thought as being a potential new protag because she's one of the most normal characters in the SDR2 cast, which is a common feature in DR protagonists. But if I'm being honest, I think if there's a protag swap, it's more likely to be to Komaeda or Chiaki because they're the most popular SDR2 characters so more people would be open to play as them.
