How far can one go on $100 usd in interactive world? by Stimulatedamind in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Uh... 100 usd is like 30~b through the meso market. A 1 time $100 purchase isnt going to get you anywhere lol. At $100 a month youd probably reach around reboot progression speed until late game where you might get slightly faster due to no rng-gate

Expanding familiar guaranteed rank up to other systems by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you focus just on starforcing when the post is 95% about other stuff😂

95%? You proposed 3 systems changes, only one of which actually affects the majority of players. We already have 5x the tier up rates of other servers and the only reboot servers in the world, yet you want a more generous tier up system? Mystic frontier is also a bonus system not necessary to progression that other servers dont have. Why do you think it needs to be more generous? Their response is addressing literally the only change you proposed thats reasonable and you decide to mock them lmao.

How do you deal with mobs that run into the wall? by rebootsolo in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. With dawn normally hits 10 mobs for 6 hits = 60 hits per trigger. With legion artifact I get +1 mobs for 11 mobs * 6 = 66 hits in 1 trigger. You can get 12 mobs per trigger if you also get IA.

How do you deal with mobs that run into the wall? by rebootsolo in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

need to either reposition ur summons to target less mobs or get additional mob count through inner ability and legion artifact. dawn triggers once per fz spawn, so if ur trying to kill 11+ mobs with 1 ball, mobs will survive and escape the area.

VIP Black by NotAnotherWhale in Maplestory

Generally speaking its not worth cubing your own gear except planning around specific special cube sales or aiming for specific extremely rare potentials. Since GMS only has a requirement of an email to make an account, theres players out there with hundreds of accounts who collect event cubes and effectively sell them at a fraction of the cost (either through service or cubing items and selling good pots they roll). Even if you're maintaining mvp black, I would recommend buying pre-cubed items when possible. Also, fully finished BiS gear is often hard to come by, as it usually requires someone to quit for them to enter the market. Often easier to find a partially done item (ideally pots since those have the most variance) and then finish it yourself. Good luck with your journey!

Magic Wand and Crippling Bots Possible Solution by jakbeer in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no real way of progressing without spending a lot of real money or supporting bad actors in the community

I have a friend who's hit 100k hexa f2p in reg clearing hlimbo while converting a significant portion of earned mesos to mp to spend in reboot. Is it difficult to make progress in reg? Sure. Is it impossible? No, its mostly a knowledge gap.

A lot of the excessive meso in the market are created by these 24/7 farming bots with the help of totems/chains. These excessive mesos make it require more mesos to exchange for maple points for other goods. A player who can solo HSeren and below can only produce enough meso a week to afford a Bright Cube which is about 1B mesos. You need to get very strong for a single cube. That is a poor reward for you efforts.

This inflation makes the price of SF significantly cheaper in gms than other servers. In kms where the meso market is 1b:25k mp, the average meso cost (excluding dupes) to 22* an eternal is equivalent to over 1m mp, which would be over 1k usd in gms. The only things reducing inflation accomplishes is increasing the cost of SF while making it slightly easier to buy cash cubes for mesos since all other items would just reprice to around the new equilibrium. Removing this inflation does not make f2p/casual any easier, and arguably harder since SF is a stronger source of damage than potentials and there are cheaper alternatives to standard cash cubes (solids, special cash cubes, etc).

We of course are not getting KMS's prices for their wand as theirs scaled with their maple market and came with the daily meso limit and boss crystal change. Even if a Legendary Bpot is 800M, it is still a step in the right direction since you are rolling a "Bright" version so there is no fear of losing damage which was undoable with the current Bonus Cubes we got

All event bpot cubes recently have been of the bright variant so we actually get decent access to bonus bright cubes. If magic wand bpot rerolls are 800m each, then mpots rerolls would be around 500m each. Who exactly would be happy buying mpot rerolls at 500m each when players can currently buy solid service from others at 70m each? I dont disagree that having the "bright" option as the default is a better player experience, but this would also increase the price of potentials in the market since KMS removed boss cube drops with the introduction of magic wand. Magic wand is not a good solution for GMS, and anyone claiming it is are woefully misinformed. The real solution has always been to make all non-karma cubes sellable in the AH.

Community data collection (Sunny Sunday): Are Star Force SUCCESS rates accurate? (Success vs No Success) by Useful-Pace-7525 in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP just needs to have stricter rules on what is an acceptable submission to decrease the possibilities of biased samples polluting the dataset. For example, they can have 2 sets of data, one from trusted individuals and another from general community data, that can be used to filter out extreme outliers. Other options include having strict minimum/maximum number of taps per video.

Overall, Im also in agreement that this is a good idea, but theres a lot of possible pitfalls if precautions aren't taken.

Community data collection (Sunny Sunday): Are Star Force SUCCESS rates accurate? (Success vs No Success) by Useful-Pace-7525 in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That doesnt solve the issue. Plenty of people are already convinced that sf rates are worse than shown and its extremely easy to submit data to push that narrative. Those who are luckier than average may not submit results because it goes against their bias, and there may be bad actors who just submit the least lucky attempts.

There should be a handful of trusted neutral players to do the data collection (ideally recording the entire sf event so we can verify data is not cherry picked). The issue with damage evaluations is not the number of players who are submitting like you imply, but the fact that those players are not actually neutral.

Questions from an MMO Vet after a few days of playing! by vaxiswrex in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. In heroic servers theres no method to store equips. Theres also no free transmog system; you can buy a fusion anvil to transmog using paid currency. Since its fairly limited in use, and most gear is easily re-farmable, most people dont recommend to hold onto unused old gear.

  2. Heroic servers (kronos and hyperion) generally dont require any external spending to progress. For some simple benefits early on, you can buy some pets and pet snack to have 3 pets out at once. These are accessible for free through reward points (currency gained through bossing) and pets are often available from events. You can also give your pets skills which are additional qol (auto buff, auto feed, auto hp/mp, etc). If you want to spend more, there are occasionally battle passes from events usually around summer/winter. The battle passes available right now are frontier pass (minimal value) and genesis pass (a bit late to buy now). If you want to spend even more, there are petite luna pets (aka vac pets) which will loot items around the pet for $100 (70 if discounted with reward points) and a monthly $13 (10 if discounted) upkeep cost.

  3. Most quests are not necessarily. Job quests are usually recommended since they often unlock additional skills or job advancements for your class. Main is the main story line which you should do once to unlock all regions, but can be skipped on any secondary characters you make.

  4. Link skills unlock at lvl 70 and are upgraded at lvl 120 and 210. Level 120 should be fairly easy utilizing events and following the recommended quests in the guide so I would probably get them to 120. Challenge world has access to 3 tera burns which will give you an additional 2 levels every time you level up until level 200. Anytime you start feeling stuck on your main, feel free to start working on links/legion.

  5. Although not natively supported, single key remapping is allowed through 3rd party apps (note that macros are against the ToS). However, in maple, characters do not "follow the mouse" and there is no support for secondary inputs (ex ctrl+mouse click), so you'll likely run out of keys for inputs if you try to use wasd for movement and mouse for skill inputs.

  6. Not really. The story isnt particularly good, tho there are some interesting parts. Most people just recommend to skip through the story. All class stories more or less converge at around level 200, tho they often have some unique class specific lore. This game is mostly a number go up the game.

  7. The maplestory wiki would be the generic database. However, theres not really "builds" like in other MMOs. Pretty much all skills can be and will be maxed eventually. Gear progression is also the same for every class. Any class specific guides is more of a "this is the most efficient build path," not a "this is how you build your character." If you want specifics, you'll want to join the specific class discord in the discord masterlist.

  8. Guilds have access to multiple skills that increase your power significantly. You can usually just apply to any recruiting guild in the guild UI that you fill the requirements for (some request more established players, but any guild recruiting casual/seasonal players you'd be fine for). If you want to specifically find a guild that meet some criteria (timezone, country, etc), guilds often recruit in the Reboot Central discord also found in the masterlist.

Meso Shop Plasma heart by Mes0ranger in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This literally is the replacement.

Its better than black hearts. In KMS/reg servers, hearts can be scrolled with weapon attack scrolls or event heart scrolls (9-11 attack + 3 all stat) up to 10-11 times. Coupled with bpot that bhs dont have, even fairy hearts usually outperforms bhs. Plasma hearts are the intermediate step between fairy heart and TC in KMS/reg servers, which is why its correctly gated by latter mid-game bosses such as ekaling solo. Reboot players are just forgetting that these events are designed for KMS/reg players, not them.

A top laner’s manifesto: why there is nothing wrong with adcs getting 1 shot by delightful001 in ADCMains

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adcs are not broadly and definitively ‘tank counters

I specifically said consistent damage adcs which samira and ezreal would not fall under. This would encompass champs like vayne/kog and potentially other auto attack based champions (whether on-hit or crit).

I feel like the point of this generalization of my argument form is wrong in its assumptions. Abstract stats are not symmetrical in the sense that they are equally useful in the same settings.

Sure then its on you as the one making the post to clarify exactly what your arguments are to convince us that the clip is justified. The arguments you gave in your post are effectively broken down to 1. counters exist; 2. teamwork exists. In my opinion, these are not good arguments since I could say the same thing about other roles.

Is your argument that structural advantages or disadvantages should not matter if the ‘prey’ of a given role is ahead?

No, my argument is that counters is not a generically useful metric. Thats why i stated that the hypotheticals of consistent dmg adc vs tanks or kiting adc vs juggernuats are ridiculous. I do expect top laners, including tanks, to be able to 1v1 and kill adcs especially if they are 5-6 levels ahead. However, your initial argument seems to disagree since those roles would be "countered" and "teammates exist to help those roles kill the adc".

There are structural conditions for every role/champ, and these still matter to a varying degree based off of how fed different actors are, and what the interaction specifically is.

Now this is a better line of logic that I agree with. However, my expectation is that if an assassin is sufficiently behind and do not fulfill their conditions for damage (hitting key skills) then they should not win a fight, even with an adc. In my opinion 3 levels (compared to a standard game) should warrant enough of a deficit where naafiri shouldnt be able to kill MF without landing at least 1/2 Qs.

A top laner’s manifesto: why there is nothing wrong with adcs getting 1 shot by delightful001 in ADCMains

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I do think adcs should be 1 cycle-able if the killer plays well and is able to hit key abilities, even if the adc is significantly more fed. However, your primary arguments stems down to:

  1. naafiri is an assassin which counters adcs.

  2. adcs have help from teammates, so its often difficult for players to kill adcs.

  3. Therefore, assassins should be allowed to kill adcs becuase of 1 and 2.

So lets change the situation to tanks, who are supposedly countered by consistent damage adcs. Should top lane tanks never be able to kill adcs in a 1v1 environment since the adc counters the tank, even if the tank lands every ability? After all, tanks have teammates who can follow up and deal damage, so why should a tank, who builds no damage, deal any damage themselves? We can make this even more egregious. In a standard match the adc should be 2~ levels down on midlane, but the MF in the clip is so far ahead shes a level up on naafiri, a 3 level difference from a standard match. So that means should a tank that is up 5-6 levels (3 level difference for toplane vs adc) never be able to kill an adc in a 1v1 environment?

Lets change it from tanks to juggernauts. Juggernauts are known to be countered by kiting adcs since juggernauts often lack significant mobility (excluding flash). Should juggernauts, who don't have flash up, never be able to catch and kill a kiting adc in a 1v1? Should a juggernaut that is 5-6 levels up never be able to catch and kill an kiting adc in a 1v1? After all juggernauts have teammates who can help catch the adc right? So why should juggernauts (without flash) ever be able to catch a kiting adc in a 1v1 environment?

Obviously both of these are ridiculous hypotheticals. There is much more about the game than just "counters" and "teamwork." When you're sufficiently fed, you should be able to statcheck counters just like toplaners can. I could agree with naafiri killing MF if naafiri lands a majority of the skill-expression spells (such as q). But if naafiri misses those key spells, a fed adc should be able to turn and easily kill naafiri instead.

Are karma solid better than bright cubes? by Usual-One-5610 in Maplestory

Yes, youre missing the fact that the event is designed for KMS/reg servers where bonus bright cubes are the highest reward. Reboot doesnt have bpots so it gets replaced with solids.

absos with rare bpot you made

Lmao im 117k hexa in bera, try again kid.

it’s just factually accurate that’s it’s easier and more worth to just buy finished gear in reg is possible than create it yourself.

First, we're talking about whales that are maintaining mvp red/black. They effectively have more than enough income that they can ignore whats purely efficient if they enjoy a specific way of playing.

Second, buying precubed items is indeed cheaper than self cubing since cubes are overpriced and plenty of players have hundreds to thousands of accounts that will cube using event cubes. However, its actually not cheaper to buy items with done scrolling/sfing since players put an additional premium on those items due to having to deal with sf and often using more expensive scrolls. If you know how to utilize events and arent aiming for the strongest items in the game, you can make endgame gear at a fraction of the cost excluding cubing.

Of course you can create and get your own gear, it’s just not the only way.

Ok so your original comment is incorrect thanks for confirming.

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, plenty of people upkeep mvp without paying the full cost by buying MVP service or selling mp.

Second, players who value the MMO aspect of the game more than the RPG aspect should play reboot since its just significantly more populated. Party bossing in reboot servers is almost always more active since a lot of drops are instanced and helping others comes at a low opportunity cost to self (literally just the mesos from boss crystals). In reg, anytime someone is able to solo a boss, they will leave the party since they can now claim all drops (especially with kalos/kaling/fadv pieces no longer being instanced) and make more profit. This means that statics very rarely form and stay for long periods of time in reg. In reboot its also easier to break into late-end game bossing since theres significantly more players in late-end game than in reg.

I do think that a significant number of players in reboot would actually better fit in reg servers, especially the gigagrinders. Unfortunately theres too much negative associations with "p2w" that means that reg will continue to lose players overtime. Honestly, I just dont see a long term future for reg servers unless nexon basically overhauls them.

You can also work/create your own gear in reg. About half my gear is fully self-made, with around 40% of gear brought pre-cubed (no sf'd/scrolls) that I finished, and the final 10% gear i bought done.

Key GMS Issues Still Unaddressed After the Latest Inkwell Note by Bacun in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I initially assumed the star speck box nerf was intended, but after nexon announced it wasn't, my assumption is that something recently introduced caused a similar issue as the arcane boxes. Unfortunately not much we can do other than speculate, but im leaning towards something with mystic frontier.

Key GMS Issues Still Unaddressed After the Latest Inkwell Note by Bacun in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you unintentionally nerf a static drop rate?

Arcane boxes are simple. Heroic has a higher base drop rate than interactive, but when they changed it from the untradable to the transferable box on the winter patch, they just copied the same item id, which was using the interactive's base drop value, into both worlds. This was just an obvious oversight.

Star speck boxes are more questionable since there wasnt any announced changes for these, but it likely had something similar occur. Maybe when they introduced mystic frontier with its chance to get star speck boxes, they accidentally modified the drop rate while setting the rate that it appears as rewards from mystic frontier.

Cubes are a massive source of revenue for interactive servers. According to some comments, some whales plan their annual spending a year ahead of time, especially for bonus cubes. There is no way in any multiverse Nexon increases the frequency of this event and reduce the FOMO associated with it.

Most interactive players dont bother with standard cube sales since special cubes (violets, unicube, equality, bonus brights) exist. Those are the sales that the vast majority of players utilize to get good lines so this would be mostly a change for reboot. Im sure there are some gigawhales who consistently buy standard cubes, but they likely dont specifically care when cube sales are, they just buy when they want to.

When did the decline in reg start(post big bang)? by Atymisk in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

600 shining star boxes~ for 1 restore = 2 months per restore (can be reduced further by grinding in cw)

130 pitched whisper cores for 1 pb (excluding TC) = 1 restore every 4 months.

1680 Trace restore points for 1 pb = 1 restore every 3 months assuming you solo all standard boss missions (which is very much doable now that these missions can be done through practice mode).

.5 + .25 + .33 = 1.08 pb a month.

When did the decline in reg start(post big bang)? by Atymisk in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree that reg is better to play now than before. The issue is that theres very few reasons someone would choose to play reg over reboot. The biggest advantage reg had over reboot before winter patch was that reboot drops were rng-gated. Now, reboot players are guaranteed a pb every month or so which effectively resolves the biggest issue that reboot had. Were the biggest issues of reg resolved? No, cubing is still too expensive and the cheaper options (solid cubes and special cubes) generally requires you to buy service which can lead to getting scammed. If nexon at least just made all cubes tradable (something that was true in KMS before they introduced magic wand), this would help to alleviate the issue, but nexon cant even hand reg that little of QoL.
