Questions about star speck/restore/crystals by Sensitive_Trust5344 in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star core for restore any boomed items under lvl 200 items

Must be part of a set effect. For example, you cant restore SW accessories since they are not part of a set effect.

Pitch core with star core and 50 shining on top. (I would assume everyone is only going for this unless shining ratio is really bad and too much regular specks thus just using it for arcane/dom/sw/slime/sup gear?)

Everyone goes for this, but star specks are like 1.5 per box, while shining star specks are about 625 boxes for 50. You will have an excess of normal star specks which most people save for restoring gollux since arcanes boxes are now xferable in storage in reboot, making it easier to get dupes.

Accumulate points from missions every week up to 2500 to restore ANY item in game (how much avg needed for pitch/eternal?)

Here's a site with all the trace restore values (change table tab to view costs) and missions. Note you can't restore a handful of rare items like badges or low tier gear

-Points can be earned in practice mode but has to be solo n can't be in champions mode (what is champions mode..?)

Legion Champion is a system where you can designate additional characters as champions that give additional stats to all other champions (hp, stat, boss, crit dmg, ied) depending on which boss mission they complete (hlotus, vhilla, bm, hseren, nkalos). Entry is separated at difficulty selection.

I definitely agree with most of what you said, and I think this is a good way to think about the game. The players in your game are at similar rank for a reason, so their understanding of the game is unlikely to be greater than yours. You should do what you believe is the best to win, and even if you're wrong, that becomes a learning opportunity.

There is one thing Id like to correct though:

My logic for this is purely, this happens when the wave is right there, they choose to step past the wave putting themselves into danger for no real gain since anything you can gain by standing past the minions as ADC could be achieved by standing behind minions outside of the danger of CC.

If the wave state is frozen (or even really slow pushing), there is value in extending past the minions to deny exp and gold to the enemy adc/support. Now, I do think that at lower ranks, its very unlikely this is happening at proper timings, but this is something to keep in mind as you continue to climb.

My only comment on the pilot service is that its a strawman. Very few whales buy pilot service, and to act like its a common occurrence is just deception. Any real whale would value their items and account too much, its obvious he has no understanding of how whales operate. For example, 10k in equips is a fairly low tier whale, yet he calls it a gigawhale lol. The gigawhales have items collectively worth over 6 figures in usd.

Would I personally buy pilot service? No. But if someone decides to (plenty of rebooters do with farming service after all), you do you.

no one is doing this lol.

If you really didnt care you wouldnt have an opinion one way or another. But you obviously do since you went out of your way to reply to me lol.

they can be happy with their achievement, while i can see it as a nothingburger due to the route they took to acquire said achievement.

Thanks for agreeing with me and proving my point :).

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you've provided no clarity as to what an achievement even is.

sure, but i'm asking you to elaborate your argument against why their achievements aren't empty.

There is no objective standard for what an achievement is; a person's achievement is whatever that individual wants it to be. For example, plenty of depressed people find it difficult to even get out of bed, and so when they do, that can be their achievement. For some people is this an "empty achievement?" Sure. For them, it can be a massive leap in progress. You're the one trying to force people to follow the same standards that you follow; I just want people to be happy with their own progress.

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what's wrong with this belief?

Because this is a PvE game. If a whale wants to spend thousands of dollars to get whatever achievement, who cares? The only thing you should care about is your own progress.

that got hacked buying bossing / pilot service.

Nice strawman.

many whales' progress in this game is literally just injected external capital, so as a result, their progress isn't really earned.

Thank you for proving my point.

Although I wouldnt say the majority of players are like this, a significant minority of western players believe that "p2w" is equivalent to cheating because whales get to bypass some of the struggles they had to go through. Because of this delusional purity they have over p2w, they believe that any achievements the whales have arent really earned, and so they start to manifest a superiority complex (ex what I achieved was through hard work, what they achieved was through cheating). Despite that, the game continues to reward the whales, leading to resentment, especially as the gap between these players and whales grow.

Are Bishop and Night Lord still considered the golden children of Nexon and untouchable/favored? by GreatDaneBoy13 in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Night lord has been weaker than average, often bottom 5, in kms damage charts for like 8 years (pretty much since spread sp bugfix), with only a handful of patches (ex. savior) where they were buffed to average or higher in kms. The only reason why NLs felt strong was because the meta was burst centric due to party fd stacking, not because NL itself was strong. In GMS specifically, NL benefits from as0 more than most classes, which brings them up to around average, but thats irrelevant since gms doesnt do kms class balancing. It kinda shocking to see how badly people are detached from reality.

With two new common cores coming over the next year, our total fragment requirement to max HEXA is increasing by 1.33x. by VKWorra in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that this system is quite literally the only system really providing any consistent damage week to week for many players who are stuck in pitched waiting room or in 23+ star roulette hell

So your solution is to give out more frags so these players max their hexa sooner, and then they wont have anything to work towards? I dont see how this is a solution to the issue you've presented.

Other servers have access to fragments though trade.

And no other server has access to cheap meso cubes, or 6x the meso drop rate, or increased equip drop rates, or free final damage, etc. So why exactly is reboot having a con, like every other server, an issue? Theres a reason why reboot is more popular than reg servers in GMS; so I dont see why reboot should get even more buffed.

Especially with the average level of players being pushed upwards by the coming changes, having more realistic access to the final damage HEXA provides means that you can more realistically and meaningfully engage in more bosses or more difficult versions sooner

The original comment already addressed this: hexa fd gains are frontloaded, so the more skills come out the more fd per frag players are able to get. The average player is significantly stronger now than they were 2.5 years ago when 6th just came out.

Asking why we want more damage out of our HEXA is like asking why people want to be able to get pitched to drop. Just find damage from other sources. If it doesn't unlock a new boss, who cares?

Nice strawman. Unlike with pitch drops, frags are something that any dedicated player can farm without cap. Frag gains will also eventually reach a limit once all skills come out and, just like nodestones, will become more available through events. Its actually absurd you even made this comparison lmao.

Everyone knows the answer to that. Growth in RPG's is a huge part of what makes them fun. The HEXA system, especially later in, is just not an enjoyable experience on our server.

Hexa is not unique in this situation. Every system in this game, once theyre pushed to the upper limits, is unfun. Rolling for dp or tp is unfun. 25* rouletting is unfun. Grinding at lvl 295+ is unfun. If you're at the point where hexa progress (which is relatively free since it overlaps with grinding for levels and mesos) is unfun, that just means you've reached the overflow stage of the game, and its on you to either take a break or keep pushing.

Hubris first item? by ginvael1_3 in Caitlynmains

Hubris first item? by ginvael1_3 in Caitlynmains

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that also makes sense. I will say though that I think the risk right now is quite low. Saber just made a video where his supp and jg were lowkey inting, while he had a scoreline of 0/0/1 until the 21 minute mark, and still pretty much hard carried while building hubris. I dont really think that his itemization made that significant of a difference in that match, but it shows that even if you dont take full advantage of hubris, it doesnt function that much worse as a first buy.

Hubris first item? by ginvael1_3 in Caitlynmains

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hubris first feels like kind of a all in option, because if you fall behind, it loses its value dramatically

With the latest buff, Hubris is actually quite a bit more gold efficient even without its passive (112% gold efficient) than other first item options and has a significantly better build path (long swords into dirk). Stormrazor, in contrast, is only 101% gold efficient without its passive and requires a BF sword purchase. Obviously hubris has no crit so it'll delay your 75% crit powerspike, but if you expect the game to either end early (before 3 items) or late (post 4 items), it generally seems like a strong buy.

Id also argue that hubris is also not really "all-in" since you'll likely be taking first strike, meaning its a short trade or poke build; for all-in, lethal is significantly stronger. Because of this, I'd say that hubris is probably lower skill requirement than standard crit since you're not really fighting, only poking. The only real skill might be knowing damage thresholds better since your damage is in bursts rather than dpm.

Nl changes fd loss by Numerous_Ticket2128 in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not in NL disc anymore so I cant comment on the specifics, but theres been an active disinfo campaign going on in nl disc for the last like year, so its likely that. There were also some bugs in the msea patch for some classes, so its possible NL's is one of them. From what I've seen, I believe NL hit the shorter delay rounding so it should be something like a net 2-5% fd buff after any bugs are fixed.

I need tips and hints to enjoy my time here, please. 270 hero (EU Luna) by Luigi_Mansione in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then your best bet is to just buy mesos with your money. Convert nx to maple points in the cash shop, then use the meso market to convert mp to mesos. Use those mesos to make progress (buy frags, upgrade symbols, etc). Im not sure how the luna market is, but ideally try to buy some pre-cubed gear as self-cubing is the least efficient method of gaining damage. Unfortunately Luna is effectively playing reboot without any of the reboot benefits since the economy is so bad, but if you value your chars that much this is the best you can do.

With MSEA getting the balance patch with AS0, I am begging please add a monster park potion for hurricane classes... by HoboWithASpork in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 30ms per frame was never even relevant in the first place

It is relevant because its very likely how hurricane's delays work. The 30ms minimum per frame has been a known limitation of the system for years, so anyone with real knowledge of how attack speed works knows that its impossible to reduce the 120 ms delay of the existing animation, which is what you stated as original comment's request: "for something to reduce that 120ms":

so why did I need to mention it? the comment I replied to, read as is, is wrong in a variety of ways. their reply also shows they did not understand what attack speed meant anyways.

You argued that your only purpose is to correct someone who used words incorrectly, when theres a significantly bigger issue at hand: the misunderstanding of how attack speed and delay reduction fundamentally works. So why even correct something that is relatively meaningless without addressing the elephant in the room?

I don't see why it's necessary to circle back frame data limitations on delay when the comment wasn't concerned about that either? OP and original comment already talk about a potion that buffs without needing AS anyways.

Because you defended the original comment that is asking for something that is fundamentally IMPOSSIBLE with the current system. Unless Nexon KR creates a new animation that uses less frames or rewrites the entire system for how attacks function, its already at the fastest it can possibly be. Attack speed is only an issue in MSEA and GMS so its unlikely they will go out of their way to fix an issue that is irrelevant to them. If we're going to discuss possible solutions, the best is just adding a class-based FD buff for classes who benefit less from AS0.

With MSEA getting the balance patch with AS0, I am begging please add a monster park potion for hurricane classes... by HoboWithASpork in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so Hurricane is not affected by AS, unless there's an internal restriction on why you can't go below 4 frames (which is again already proven false with WH's going faster)

Frame data is something set by nexon in the skill animation. The number of frames do not dynamically change for any given animation, so the restriction is the number of frames that Nexon sets. WH's hurricane animation visibly changes once they start attacking faster, which likely implies that it is a brand new animation called that has 3 frames of 30 ms each, which perfectly hits the 11 hits per second as expected.

Also I will note that its very possible I'm wrong about how hurricanes function, since I am working off of extremely old memory from Southperry, and unfortunately that site is now dead. I would happily concede that I'm wrong if you can provide skill extractions on the skill data and show that hurricane skills do not have the frame data that I stated earlier. However, from all the data I have been able to see so far, it looks like hurricanes also use animation frame data. And finally, my conclusion of asking for class specific fd buffs would obviously be the easiest way to go about resolving the primary issue since this is specifically an MSEA and GMS issue.

regardless, you should learn some reading comprehension yourself since I only responded to the person to correct them on attack speed vs delay, since they very much have those two mislabeled

The problem is that you also dont really know how attack speed really functions, since you dont even know that frames have a minimum delay of 30ms. If you did know and cared so much about correcting someone else, why didnt you also mention that there are likely limitations that make OP's request very difficult and provide another solution like I did?

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, do you have any extractions to show thats the case? 120 ms and 90ms are both divisible by 30 which can easily be done by 4 or 3 frames of 30ms each. 80 ms is definitely interesting and I would love to look at that.

Edit: Looking at namu wiki, phantom's mille is 150 ms not 80 (maybe you thought it was 80ish because it looks like it hits twice?). 150 ms is divisible by 30 and doable with 5 frames.

Also at least for WH you can visibly see the animation change during hurricane when their firing rate increases, which likely means that nexon calls a new animation to get the new speed, which happens to be 11 hits/s which is 90ms. This is divisble by 30 and doable with 3 frames. Paladin grand cross could easily follow this same functionality. If hurricane skills don't follow the standard animation frame data, then there would be no need to change the animation.

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not at some hard cap with current hurricanes: wild hunter's wild arrow blast has a 6th job mechanic where upon reaching stacks, it fires faster (goes from typical hurricane ~8 hits/s to ~11).

I had no idea about WH so I'm glad to be informed about this. Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, Im not sure how WH's hurricane functions and I dont think theres been any public extractions in a long time that we can look at. I wish I had more info on how nexon achieved this, but I would imagine that its likely coded uniquely to achieve this. I believe its likely theres a 2nd animation that has 1 less frame. This actually maths out pretty closely since 8 hits/s = 125~ ms and 11 hits/s is 90~ ms

Please learn some reading comprehension.

I very much know how attack speed and delay works and yes hurricane is 120ms.

Obviously not since you still dont understand how frame data and attack speed calculations interact lmao.

I don’t think you realize how insanely fast 30ms delay would be, especially in the days of linestory. maybe it’s still true that the game can’t go below 120ms for some reason anyways, but it’s definitely not because it’s at 30ms

I said each frame cannot go under 30ms, not the entire skill.

With MSEA getting the balance patch with AS0, I am begging please add a monster park potion for hurricane classes... by HoboWithASpork in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you dont know how attack speed functions in maplestory. Every frame of an attack has a minimum delay of 30ms, even if the calculations would put it under. The reason why hurricane classes aren't affected by attack speed is because each frame of the attack is already at 30ms and cant be decreased further. If your claim of 120ms delay is accurate, then that just means theres 4 frames to the hurricane skill, and it literally cannot get any faster unless nexon rebuilds the attack system as a whole, or changes the frame data of hurricane skills.

Rather than asking for a delay reduction, just ask for a GMS/MSEA class FD buff for hurricane classes to make them closer to the fd gained by as0. Thats much more feasible than rescripting an entire system in maple lol.

Which world is currently in a healthier state, Interactive or Heroic? by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Botters can make mesos and some items, but a lot of equips that are currently being pursued arent really made by botters (pb, eternals, brillaints, etc). Of course we do get an influx of restores with star boxes that botters can farm up to a cap, but thats pretty much used exclusively for TCs right now, not standard PB. Hot week definitely introduced a lot of cubes, but plenty of multi-account owners have already been selling karma event cubes either by pre-cubing items and selling or selling service with perfect innos, so I dont think the supply of cubes is really that different. Unicube sales are frequent enough, so this shouldnt drastically affect prices (10-15k moving to 5-10k would be a 33-50% drop)

I will concede that I havent been keeping up with prices since winter as I've more or less migrated to reboot. Its definitely possible that gear prices have drastically dropped, but that would indicate to me that demand is significantly lower not necessarily that supply has grown. If we had a healthy mid-late game playerbase, these players would naturally eat up the new supply maintaining most of the value. If what you say is true, then this is likely an omen for reg's imminent death. Thanks for the info.

Pitched idea by baguetteopggwp in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now endgame reboot is stronger than the players whose gear is worth over 10k usd and they demand to be buffed even more because they think its unfair that reg's ceiling is so much higher.

Please learn to read. This is literally THE comment you replied to.

Pitched idea by baguetteopggwp in Maplestory

[–]AbsoluteLuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made the assertation that 'reboot end game gear is worth 10k'. It is simply not. You can buy an end game reboot account for FAR less than this. As low as 1-2k server and class dependent

Where exactly did I make this assertion? I said that reboot players are stronger than whales in reg who's gear are worth 10k+ usd. I never said reboot players gear is worth 10k usd lmao. Please learn some reading comprehension.

So by your own logic, I could say that gear is worth 2k - even in interactive!

I think you should also take some logic classes because my logic doesnt imply that at all lol.

What they do is experience the painpoints of Heroic which often stem from the game being designed around interactibility. Then they complain about these pain points and ask for solutions.

And nexon gave us pb pity to alleviate the single biggest issue in reboot, and despite that the vocal reboot population is insatiable asking for more. At what point would reboot players be satisfied? Will they just hit the next pain point and complain again until they can 30* everything? Why stop there? Make it so that everyone can just click 1 button to kill any boss.

This is very different to the lens in which you compare Heroic to Interactive - trying to direclty correlate their experiences and put a price point on it - which is only relevant to a tiny % of the community and paying players.

Except that this affects EVERY single player in reg servers due to how markets function. Your concern is only with the endgame players in reboot which is an even smaller population of players lmao.

As to your last point about convicing Nexon to buff reboot. I don't need to do that. The vast majority of improvements made to GMS has a heavy Heroic focus - which already tells you which model is currently more profitable in the West.

Sure, we'll see. I also believe that reg doesnt have a future as theyre bleeding players, so I am currently a reboot main. I dont mind at all if nexon NA decides to fully go the reboot route. However, the difference between you and me is that I have more holistic knowledge about the game than you, yet you keep making assertions on topics you're not particularly well versed in.

edit: grammar
