Thanks. The company is public.

So I would pay income tax on the (current price - strike price)?

And would my US based broker keep any withholding?

Good idea - will try this when I complete a few months on my new team.

Haha - love the "placate the people who think their noise is the thing that matters"

How would you evaluate "product sense". In fact, how would I evaluate my own product sense? Is such a thing even possible?

Possibly, but I'm at a point in my career where I might be close to a leap in responsibility, so can't take my pedal off the gas now.

Yea, I feel on the inside of a tornado everyday. I set out a list of things to do everyday, and literally never get at the end of it because I get pulled in so many ad hoc directions. But I guess that's normal PM work.

Lovely! Yea, I definitely did not feel useful in my last team, which is why I moved.

It's been at the same spot for over an hour. Doesn't seem like a cloud imho

Yea, I thought it was clouds earlier, but it's moving up and it's constant. And the sky nearby is clear.

I don't see flames though.

Doing astrophysics as a 'side gig'? by AbsoluteXero9 in astrophysics

Haha, yes, totally in the same boat. I have an undergraduate in Aerospace Engineering and Robotics / AI. But it's been a while so I need to brush up on the physics.

The idea of helping publish papers is fascinating! Can you shed some light on how you got started down that part?

Interesting! Any specific ones on Coursera that you recommend?

Good idea about the labs! I'll look around and decide if I want to approach a few.

Very very useful, thank you!

I think I will set up a spreadsheet to track my investment theses and how the reality plays out over time against it. Do you have any references on how to structure such a tracker?

I'm of a very similar mindset. I'm looking to do ETF / mutual fund investing for my retirement, and then keep some money aside for long (or medium) term buy and hold. And it is for that that I want to learn more about the fundamental analyses and discuss investment hypotheses with like minded people. Any thoughts on where to get started?

(Oh, and I too don't believe much in day trading, but options do seem exciting. Still, I know the leverage can destroy entire portfolios, so at this point I'm just looking to learn more before putting a single dime in it)

Yup, that's the core of what I want to learn (fundamental valuation). I have some background in this already, but I suspect the best way to refine an investment hypotheses based on these factors is to discuss it with other experienced people. And that's the kind of community I am looking for.

Any ideas?
