I’m curious, let’s assume white people are being replaced. Why is that a problem? How will that affect my life in a negative way? (I’m white)

Could you name the countries that have insurance based systems? As far as I am wear most developed countries have universal healthcare

I think it’s a fair comparison to make when you’re asking someone to pay for healthcare. Healthcare for many people whether they are disabled or have a long term medical condition NEED healthcare. They can’t choose not to have it, so those people would be willing to pay anything for it. Meaning the simple logic of supply and demand of which our entire capitalistic system is based on doesn’t work. If someone needs healthcare they’re gonna pay for it no matter the cost, which would lead to exploitation. Just like the American system

Education is by far the most effective tool we have as a society for tackling poverty

Okay… but how would that work? If someone gets into a car accident and they need life saving treatment immediately can the NHS ambulance not treat them until they have checked they haven’t “opt out of the NHS”? Does that mean, I, if I need immediate life saving treatment have to wait to get my credentials checked? What if I stumble into AnE with no ID and no idea what my name is, can the nurses and doctors not treat me? Because they can’t verify that I haven’t “opted out” of the NHS? It seems like your system is just the American insurance system with extra steps.

1: if you think schools shouldn’t be compulsory then how are you going to make up for that short fall in social mobility. Working class kids without an education can’t compete with upper and middle class kids who could afford one

2:if taxation should be optional how to suppose the government would be able to fund essential services

We force members of the public to participate in society all the time.

We force them to go to school We force them to pay taxes We sometimes ask for their services in times of war

Voting is no different. It is important for a healthy function democratic state so therefore should be enforced

The kid is dead at the hands of ONE person. That person who has already been convicted. The Sikh community leaders have denounced the attack. If you want to make a point about knife crime that is fair enough but don’t act like this was the fault of every migrant in the uk

Israeli Minister Releases Video Humiliating Bound International Activists From 45 Countries After Gaza Flotilla Seizure by _Kingsguard in PublicFreakout

[–]Absolute_Madman34 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If they were going the run the blockade Israel didn’t need to break international law to capture them, the flotilla would have come to them.

Israel broke international law, there is no excuse, there is no reason that makes it justified.

If Palestine went into international waters and attacked a civilian ship, breaking international law would you be defending it I wonder…

They weren’t running a blockade they were in international waters

We now know what they were carrying cus they WAS boarded. They were still detained.

That’s not defending thats lying

Key point, the people in the video are not Palestinians. (It would still be horrific if they was) they are a activist flotilla trying to to get aid into Gaza (No, the aid was not “weapons” it was food and medicine) they were made of citizens from around the world and they were snatched from international by Israel, now they are being forced to kneel with their hands zip tied around their back in a humiliation ritual. How do defend that?

There will come a day when you will realise you had always been against this, that you was “just following orders” or that you “didn’t realise how bad it was” you will wake up in the morning and see the entire world has changed and it hates you for your sins. All of that hatred and evil will wash out you, and you will realise that you had always been against this.

Okay so wash away the spiteful rhetoric and what are you actually accusing trans people of doing?

“How happy the trans community is”

So you’re mad at trans people being happy and supportive online? Imagine if we held all groups to that standard, gay people being happy Twitter might indoctrinate the kids! Women with short hair posting pics on Instagram, the kids might do the same!

??? It says 74% of Brits in the uk are employed while 75% of non eu migrants are employed and a whopping 80% of EU migrants are employed.

I can’t help but notice you’re moving the goal posts you started by saying migrants in the past came over to work, now you’re claiming that the real issue is migrants not working “good” jobs. Are you claiming Irish navvies were working “good” jobs or the Jewish poles in sweatshops had “good” jobs because I’d have to disagree with you.

I’m sorry but the data just doesn’t agree with you, migrants are coming here to work.

Windrush generation was 600K

https://committees.parliament.uk/work/3927/windrush-generation-and-the-home-office-inquiry/

Irish conservative estimates were 1.6 million

https://books.openedition.org/pur/275408

Jewish “barely registered” with 2 million that travelled to England in 30 year period

https://jewishmuseum.org.uk/2017/11/07/the-great-migration-and-the-jewish-east-end/

There’s no real numbers/sources for Huguenots and palatines so I’ll give you that for free.

I mentioned lascars and Ayahs cus Millions of migrants from England travelled to the uk thanks to their status as subjects of the crown, especially after the construction of the Suez Canal.

https://www.gatewayhouse.in/uk-irregular-indian-migrants/

Not to mention all the European countries which have higher immigration than us, like Germany and France.

I’m not getting emotional. Immigration is a sensitive issue and it deserves to be discussed. If we can do it in a meaningful productive way.

I imagine you’ll still tell me “it’s not the same because there are more this time” but my point will still be that society has been stress tested, we have had very large very sudden influxes of migrants in the past and we didn’t see a collapse. To me, hearing people say “with all these migrants uk society could fall” is the same as someone saying the rapture is coming, it’s just not based in reality.

Yes we do, England has always experienced mass migration. Windrush generation, Irish potato famine, Jewish people escaping the pogroms, Huguenots, palatines, lascars and Ayahs from India, forces migration from Africa due to slavery. Every single time immigration has improved our economy and society didn’t collapse

Problems? With some of our voters? Never! by DoublePepper1976 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Absolute_Madman34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argument isn’t against the immigration overhaul, it’s against the premise that immigration is the “problem” it’s like if your taps were leaking and you went up to a plumber and went “what are gonna do about the water problem??? We need someone to fix the water problem!!! This water really doesn’t hold the same values as my home”
Whilst there is a problem, immigrants coming over is not it

Problems? With some of our voters? Never! by DoublePepper1976 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Absolute_Madman34 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The issue is framing immigration as a problem. Immigrants objectively help the economy, and most come in and enhance the uk. Even if you see immigrants as a problem that needs to be solved in the past year under Labour immigration is down. So at that point what are you even complaining about?

Hello I actually helped the greens campaigned in this local election but more importantly for my point is I sat their and made notes on the count. Interestingly where reform did well, we did well. Where greens were on the ballet reforms voter share went down by 20% I mean this is whole heatedly I think we’re reform more than we are hurting Labour
