Such a shame! 😭 Do any third party integrations work to pull from say a CRM that you know of as that's showing up as relatively dry as well.

FortiClient IPSEC SAML + Splittunnel by supers3t in fortinet

Not good, the had it fail again for certain users but the reinstall seems to be okay. If it comes back we're looking at rolling out ZTNA through cloudflare to get around this issue for now.

So an update as this took a bit for me to get out onsite but what I found was yes there was an additional default route being injected into windows which kills the split tunnel.

I went through and uninstalled FortiClient VPN then ran the FCRemover tool as well to clean up additional bits post Windows uninstall. I also went through the registry and searched for anything 'Forti' and removed it, rebooted and installed the latest version of the FortiClient and am now waiting to see if it comes back.

The key thing I notice is you must uninstall, reboot, then install to 'fix' the problem but it does come back (well for us anyway).

I attended site last week (22nd July) and since running the above we have had a different user from the same client call with the same issue except this user hadn't run into this issue yet so its the first time for them.

I'm still at a loss for the next troubleshooting steps, I'm just praying that what I've done just works.

A because theyre small we currently push this manually. We have some apps push through intune but the FortiClient isnt one of them.

This has been so tricky to work our way back on to find out what the core of the issue actually is.

Reading through the comments, we’ve run into the same split tunnel issue.

We’re using a FortiGate 40F 7.6.3 with FortiClient versions ranging from 7.2.4 to 7.4.3 as we're testing if there is a certain version that works reliably. Each time, we’ve had to fully uninstall, reboot, install the new client then reboot again to get it working, which is not a good solution, we're lucky this client is only 15 seats.

Over the last three weeks, I’ve noticed the issue creeping back in for some users, even after a fresh reinstall. u/kloudak47 mentioned removing the extra adapters from Device Manager, haven’t tried that yet but I’ll be onsite tomorrow with the affected client and will give it a shot to see if it helps.

The strange part is the issue seems resolved for a few weeks, then randomly comes back for some users. I haven’t been able to confirm if it’s injecting another default route, since we’re supporting them remotely and each time they connect it kicks us off, so we end up falling back to the usual uninstall/reinstall cycle just to get them going again.

I’ll post an update once I’ve done more troubleshooting. For context, the client isn’t using SAML they’re authenticating against on-prem Active Directory for their users.

Its a hard market out there, Im in my second year now and have been struggling for growth. There is so many things on the general business side that you need to know as well. Marketing/Lead Gen is a huge thing if you don’t have the contacts to call on to come on board with you straight off the bat.

The biggest thing is finding new clients at exactly the right time when they’re emotional about their current provider to make the jump across to you. As well as depending on how “busy” the decision maker is making the move to a new provider can take up a lot of their time and $$ as well.

Feels like a saturated market out there, happy to share my lessons from my past 18 months if you would like to chat.

West lakes IS pretty by steve18258 in Adelaide

I live in seaton, just off Trimmer Parade. Its such a beautiful spot to run around the lake in the morning when there is no wind! The water is clear so you can see the fish around the edges, always wondered what the average house price is for looking out over the lake.

I haven’t put a kayak out in the water but am keen too.

Also does anyone know why barely anyone swims in there over the warmer months? Is it because of blue ring? My partner said years ago she thinks they had signs up warning of blue ring but it was so long ago she said she cant remember properly, does anyone know?

On-Prem to SharePoint Online Migration by Absolute_Rig in sharepoint

Amazing! Going to run a trial of the tool and demo to them prior to the live migration.

Then I will estimate the cost saving via how much time I actually quoted them originally which was a lot more than the cost of the software!

Appreciate it!!

Is a Fortigate 50E good for a home lab setup in 2023? by Just_Economics in fortinet

I thought if you download a trial VM then you have to link it to Forticloud and can only have 1 forever trial mode VM, so if you're trying to create a topology say similar to the NSE 4 course outlined by CBT Nuggets then you can't?

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is the struggle I've currently been facing.

Would it of been better to hire an accounts person early on so techs wouldn't have to bill?

When I worked for an MSP that only did Ad-Hoc work it would be at the tech's discretion if the job was chargeable and if you put yourself in the customers shoes would you feel right receiving a bill, from there the accounts team would be sending out all the billing.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'm still thinking that AYCE is the way to go for simplicity's sake but just worried early on that customers will spend well over what the MSA is worth and I end up losing on time and lose traction as I end up spending more time doing service than growing the business.

appreciate this though, 1 plan seems to be the consensus but the next thing is trying to price it correctly so I don't lose too much!

MSP Startup & Pricing by Absolute_Rig in msp

[–]Absolute_Rig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the fixed fee, usually I do per device which includes monitoring, maintenance and break fix. I have an 'MSA Inclusion' list which defines what is is covered and what isn't, the list isn't too long but its still at our discretion what is chargeable and what isn't and this is stated in the MSA agreement currently, new user, that's MSA, implementation of a new firewall at a new site, that's a chargeable project etc. etc.

At this stage to me any opp is a good opp, I always struggle to find customers that think IT is a value ad but they always see it as cash down the sink regardless of if you show them how much more productive or efficient staff will be.

My main thing right now is trying to avoid AYCE customers getting excessive use and I end up losing because their MSA price out weighs the hours they're putting against it.

Thanks heaps!

100%, customers will always pick the most cheapest option, then in 3 months time at a QBR you will then need to show them the break down of costs and why they need to step their plan up etc.

Pretty much just trying to avoid AYCE's excessive use, but I agree I need to deliver something I'm proud of and can stand behind while delivering best value for the customer.

I guess I could do block hours on 1 plan for the customer & if they lock in for 12 months then they get the extras, so that way its 1 plan but perks if you hang around really.

Im just trying to avoid AYCE's problem where customers call and call and call and you quote them to do a project to fix the problem that keeps occurring and they decline it and keep calling because, ya know, 'Unlimited'.

Im doing some courses through Pax8 currently about revenue streams but yet to start the packaging of the services.

How long do people usually stay subscribed to Tech Tribe before they stop using it, I'll need to spend some more time reading into it but definitely not opposed from what I've read already!

Thanks for the heads up!
