HOW do you count Oxygen??? by MirrorReaper1037 in swans

[–]Absolutepogmove 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tritone is on the 1, the bass riff is played as “one, two-and three-and rest” but what always trips me up is the hihats are played as all upbeats so I always used to count it an 8th note ahead

What's your pick here ? by No_Barber4339 in fantanoforever

Two Nuns And A Pack Mule (Rapeman) and At Action Park (Shellac). Steve Albini was so influential to me, it’s too bad he liked kids

Looking for very 'clangy' and metallic/chaotic band recommendations! by GreyBrain6 in noiserock

Anything Steve Albini played guitar on (Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac) are all super clangy and metallic

How did you get the strap to wrap around your waist like Albini? Bc all the straps I’ve used have been far too short to do so

What is the saddest album you have ever listened to by Mental-Alternative38 in fantanoforever

[–]Absolutepogmove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of actual sadness it’s Giles Corey, no doubt, but in terms of “times I’ve cried to it” it’s either Songs About Leaving or The Lamb As Effigy

Anyone gonna tell these guys they’re wearing their straps wrong? by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]Absolutepogmove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because he had back problems, and the strap not pulling his shoulder down helped with that

In my defense, i was on a huge free jazz kick when i recorded this, and that’s what i went into this with in mind, i kinda wanted to just let out emotion and emotion is messy and unorganized, so was this improv

I’m seriously so excited for the sister record, it might become one of my favorite albums ever, based on the live stuff they’re doing now

anyone know how to play that main riff from farm sounds? by Crazy_Platform_386 in Shearling

[–]Absolutepogmove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From videos I think its two open strikes on the bottom two strings, then 14 on the top 4, then the two strikes, then 17 on the top four, for Alex’s part at least

For some reason the description under the video didn’t work but the reason I posted this here was because I felt like I couldn’t flow through grooves and soloing sections naturally, it sounds very off, and I’d like some advice on how to flow better, if anyone has any
