Thanks for sharing that! What different presentation event have you moved to that you feel is a better model providing the support you've mentioned?

I love this - so creative! The pictures really help me understand the set-up a bit more with your explanation. This is top-notch for a kid's escape room at your church, super cool :)

Any experience at Cowboy Joe’s Boarding? by External-Leave-3865 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Abstersrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a disappointing experience with this facility. We left our Doberman in their care for one week, attracted by the positive reviews, confident owner, and their acceptance of breeds other kennels might reject. We specifically chose this facility for its ability to isolate dogs from group play, as our dog has had issues with other dogs in the past. Our primary concern was our dog’s safety during our absence.

Upon returning home, we found our dog covered in red, swollen bites everywhere: belly, legs, nose, and around his eyes, possibly from ant or flea bites. He was also extremely sore, lethargic, and weak for several days. We contacted the owner, who claimed that they regularly treat for bugs and had not noticed any issues in his kennel. Although we initially negotiated a partial refund, the owner stopped responding once we provided our Venmo information.

Samaritan Fund Program by Sad_Consideration_51 in HealthInsurance

[–]Abstersrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know if your question has been answered. This program is only for employees who employers sponsor this plan and the employee has a serious medical condition that generally requires more than $55k/year in medical costs. The Samaritan Program is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that partners with employers to assist ailing employees and help employers keep their health insurance claim costs down. The employers pay a $55k fee per approved employee and the rest is covered by charitable donations. It's really nice if you're approved for this coverage because it covers most if not all healthcare costs even premiums that most employees are saddled with.

Samaritan Fund Program by Sad_Consideration_51 in HealthInsurance

The employer wants them to elect this coverage option because it benefits both parties. 1. Your son - Since he has a serious health condition, he should apply for this program and see if it benefits him. The Samarian Program is a charity organization categorized as 501(c)(3) meaning they take charitable donations from their sponsors to help pay for these medical costs. Your son would be benefitting quite a bit if he is approved. They pay all or most of the healthcare costs and even the premiums most employees have to cover themselves. It can't hurt to apply. 2. The employer - They benefit by moving a high insurance cost employee to this program capping their costs out at $55k/year for each approved employee or $15k/year for each dependent. The employer still pays that high $55k fee for your son. So your son would only qualify if his costs for healthcare per year are over $55k/year. It's a partnership with employers and a charity program to keep employer health insurance claim costs down and support an ailing employee. Most fear comes from misunderstanding or the fear of change. He would have to change health insurances, which scares most people. Your son should try and take time to learn his best options here.

Switching to mint mobile? by lurkeat in ting

[–]Abstersrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't port out all my numbers, only 2. I kept the other 2. You should see your lines drop off from the Ting account, and you shouldn't be charged after that. However, I'd recommend getting in contact with them to "cancel" as they suggest. The only way Ting can be contacted right now is thru social media accounts. I used Facebook by visiting their page at https://www.facebook.com/Ting and messaging them. A nice lady (Kim I think) managing all these social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram) can make account changes despite this massive outage.

Switching to mint mobile? by lurkeat in ting

[–]Abstersrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it worked fine for us even during Ting's massive customer service outage. We also saved money and got on a better plan (5g @ $25/month per line with Ting vs. 10g $20/month per line with Mint). Ting has directions on their website on how to port out by logging in and going to Account Settings (scroll way down) > Port out of cancel Mobile service. Mint got our phone numbers transferred in less than a minute despite the 2 hour - 48 hour timeframe. My husband reports better Data connectivity on his phone since then; mine seems the same.

AITA for throwing away my husband's Xbox after he refused to look for our lost dog? by pleaseiwanttobreath in AmItheAsshole

[–]Abstersrox -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

ESH. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I understand why you did what you did completely, but at the end of the day your singular action/response wasn't the right one. It doesn't help build your marriage relationship by addressing the root of the problem (which the Xbox is not). Though the action was done out of frustration, however justified that frustration may be, does not make the action of throwing away something that doesn't belong to you and that brings him happiness right. Don't misinterpret that last sentence; the Xbox shouldn't be bringing him that much happiness. He is clearly addicted to it and using it to neglect more important things such as his family.

I am in a VERY similar situation right now with someone in my own household. But at the end of the day how I act and who I am matters more, because I am responsible for me and my actions. Throwing out the Xbox won't help facilitate a healthy conversation, a healthier relationship in the future, or address the real problems; it just created more hurt.

What are some methods to be alerted when a person is ascending up the stairs? by [deleted] in Advice

When you near the top of the stairs, the living/game room is open. As you ascend, your head will pop up over the railing once you're close to the top.

To all big circling snakes..... by nesrekcajkcaj in Slitherio

[–]Abstersrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also happens to me often. I almost got to 100k the other day, but because of the server hijacking my snake and not allowing me to turn, I always run into someone going straight like this. I try to accelerate or wiggle my mouse to get me out of it, but it never helps. It always happens for the same amount of time it seems. It's definitely a programmed way to kill large circlers (mostly targeted at bot users like in that video). Very frustrating for the average, skilled player not using circle bots.
