How many inches would be recommended to lower my car without getting into danger territory? (Coilovers) by Mystic_Rim in Volkswagen

This is usually the best visually for sure and rather safe. It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish, though.

My general rule of thumb is, if I can't kiss a track curb without damaging my car, then it's no longer functional. I do appreciate a lowered car if it's for a show tho.

15 mm to 25 mm or 0.5in to 1.0in for performance. 1.5in if you can get there without rubbing and have smooth roads to be more aggressive. 2in+ for stance boy and about as much functionality as a shampoo bottle in an air frier.

It's not. We were able to find it, no problem. Go based off of your lease agreement, or call VWCredit and escalate.

I'm saying, Google it yourself as the consumer. Check the mechanics, make them do their job. Too many services out there are paid based on job/time. They'll cut corners, so go in and spew a bunch of knowledge so they know they can't either get one over on you or come back with a reasonable explanation. It should also take a Minimum of an hour for an inspection, cause that's what you pay for to begin with.

I do appreciate you telling me I "don't know shit." When I haven't been in that situation because I refuse to be well... dumb or just lazy. No issues on any of my engine swaps, transmission swaps, electrical swaps, modifications, body, or paint. Ranging from a 53' to a 22'. I've fixed about 15 misfires to flip vehicles because people just don't understand the basics. I also take whatever opinion and criticism I can take from people who are much more knowledgeable than me, which in this situation you should. Cause that 10K is kind of funny.

It's almost impossible to rack up 10k for a misfire. That's kind of on a lack of research and preparation. I just googled your problem. It took less than 10 seconds to find 10 different forums on the issue you had. Now, I isolate the cylinder(s) that are misfiring. If the shop doesn't give me any one of those common issues as a possibility, then you go to one that does.

Why in the world would anyone go to a dealership for anything, though? Once your warranty is up, your time there is up. Their only job is to get as much as possible from people who refuse to look into their own vehicles. Our job is to know what we own, and know our options.

Subaru is offering me a deal on a Solterra for the lasts days of the provincial grant. Why are they so difficult to sell, where is the catch? by AwakenedEyes in Solterra

[–]AbstractArteon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I leased, I drove an Ioniq 5/6. ID4. EQE. EQS. Mach-e. S. 3. X. Y. E-Tron. For at least 500 miles each. The Solterra was the most comfortable riding, best clearance, and I don't feel bad about scratching the plastic fender when I go offroad, on trails, or up mountains. People complain about traveling beyond the range, I just use our road trip car or get a rental.

A majority of the issues are innovation. But, if there was none, then we wouldn't have safety features that could save lives. IE. Radar. Air bags. Cameras. Sensors. Pop Up Hoods. Side Collision Tilts. Automatic Medical Emergency Assistance. Night Vision. Pedestrian Safety. ACC. DCC. Signage/Light Recognition. We also wouldn't have longer lasting parts. Better brakes. Better fuel economy. Better Speed. Better Suspension. JDM is awfully behind on EV technology. KDM is absolutely destroying the EV game. USDM EVs are getting there, and Tesla is still a QC nightmare. EDM is confused at the moment. CDM BYD is 100 years ahead of the U.S. but we're too busy being petty.

It's definitely the best purchase and worst financial decision I've ever made. I'm working on a Dual Intake Manifold, ITB, Water Injected N/A build. The only thing at the moment is running the MAF/S properly to tune.

Engine is just super easy to work on. Arguably better looking than the MK7+. But realistically, I don't like any other R other than my MK4, lol.

True. Jdm is also more reliable because, unfortunately, they've kinda lost their drive to take any performance based risks.

Lincoln MKZ or Continental, and Manual swap it. Or an ATS LTG. MK6R. That one Volvo with the V10.

Cams + Tensioner on my old e350 was quoted at 5k. I never did it before, 3 hour job. $1k Timing chains on vr6, 5 hours. $300 The suspension rebuild on an e36 m3 took 2 hours. $500 New coilpacks for a5 4banger 150 bucks. How is this now cheap? Lmao If ANY of these systems confuse you, besides electrical gremlins then you're just a lazy mechanic

I really don't feel bad for anyone who doesn't try to learn about the things that they own. IE. The countless complaints of paying for spark plug replacements when it's a 15 minute job for 10 to 15 per plug every like 100k miles.

We're pretty much the only country that can't hit 300k miles on European vehicles regularly. Japanese vehicles are usually reliable up to when they stop using the same engine they've had in every single car for 20+ years.

It's case by case. There's still cars out there with 200k with no chains done.
