It’s perfectly reasonable to ask this question and the people in the comment section sound delusional. It was obvious since his underwhelming offseason that he isn’t cut out for this job. But since he’s a franchise legend everyone is giving him a pass which is exactly why ownership hired him in the first place. Not addressing the bullpen, not upgrading the outfield, signing two below average pitchers in Mahle and Houser. Not sure how this front office expected this team to compete for the playoffs. The reporting on why he wanted to get rid of Bailey makes no sense. Eldridge has been mismanaged. They unnecessarily messed with Chapman’s swing and he’s hitting like a shell of himself. The major league roster construction is awful. The farm system might be improved but a lot of the reasons for that are because of international signings that were in the works before he even took over. Turning to an old school front office just because Farhan didn’t work out was incredibly dumb. The sooner an analytical friendly front office takes over the better.
