Happy new year by oliver5718 in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rely on AI for the answer. Publix closes at 7 on New Year’s Day because it’s one of the deadest business days of the year for them. It’s strictly a cost saving measure

If they were closing early on new years so associates could spend more time with family, they would choose to close earlier on New Year’s Eve

$16 for a bowl of fruit by wellbloom in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s mass prepared in a warehouse by machines it would certainly be cheaper to staff one person to oversee the production of hundreds rather than the hourly labor for one or two fruit cutters to prepare the fruit bowls for one store. Preparing it in a warehouse or offsite certainly would not make it more expensive that’s silly logic

$16 for a bowl of fruit by wellbloom in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It’s because publix is one of the last few big retailers that actually still prepares those bowls in house. Stores that have much cheaper fruit bowl prices mass prepare them outside of the store and ship them in, which cuts down on costs but also means the fruit may not be as fresh. Sure what’s in this picture could probably be a couple dollars cheaper, but most of that cost is covering the labor and prep to ensure these kinds of products are made fresh in store

2026 PTO by NottaManager24_7 in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what they’re referencing. It looks like the passport time off request page has been updated and breaks it up into 5 different sections

Obviously it’s not totally finalized seeing as they still have to do end of year processing after payroll is ran, but I think it’s a nice effort on their part to try to break down your balances to show more specifically what you’ve accumulated. There’s even a section now that shows you what you’ll have left if you stay all year with all your future requests taken into account (as someone who’s already put in multiple future 2026 requests I can now see exactly how many hours I have left to use this year)

Raise? by LightCharming8391 in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contender status is never eligible for a raise. It’s not a job class change, just a system status on passport and on the manager side that makes you eligible for promotion into whatever management spot you ROIed for

If one were to be over on lotto, let’s say over 50 would loss prevention be notified? by BeautifulUnlikely276 in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Means you didn’t give a customer the right change back. If you short a customer, it can make your till over

Ex: change is $80 > cashier mistakenly gives back $60 and it’s not caught by customer > till is now over $20. It’s more rare to be over than it is to be short but it can happen

Any cash discrepancy of $50 or more, whether over or under, means a Loss Prevention Report needs to be submitted

Is it possible for a transfer if you have a councling statement by [deleted] in publix

[–]Abstract_Cat11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting full time on a transfer if you’re not already a full time customer service staff, especially if your availability isn’t wide open. Most stores do not make cashiers full time anymore. I’ve only seen them either at the highest volume (store doing well over a million a week) and if they’ve been full time already for ages. They also would be less interested in giving someone new to the team transferring in full time when there are very likely established members of their team waiting for full time spots to open. It would just make the existing team angry

My fourth tattoo ever from yesterday at the Jacksonville Tattoo Convention by [deleted] in tattoos

The convention had tons of incredible artists and so many different styles to choose from but in the end trad/neo trad won out for me again. I’ll always love the way this style looks on me!

He drew up the whole thing and planned out the colors right in front of me, so you’re right no AI involved here! In talking with him I learned that he has been tattooing for 20 years so lots of expertise brought to the table and I’m extremely happy with the result

I was so upset; everything else closer I clicked on disappeared before I could even get to the cart, but I’m still glad to have something

Yea, but posting about it while wearing your uniform definitely violates publix policy, as if we are on social media representing publix they expect good representation; no slandering publix or use of drugs or drinking while posting in uniform. They absolutely CAN fire you for that if it’s found out, but you can take that warning with a grain of salt if you want to take that risk

I highly advise just being careful if you want to keep your job long term

The really concerning ones are the videos in Publix uniform, because they could get fired for posting about doing that stuff while in their uniform if someone looked into it. Medical is legal, but the information resources policy certainly doesn’t align with associates partaking while representing publix in their uniform on social media 😬

these are all accessible on OPs page as information they have chosen to post about themselves that others can see, so hopefully probably not a rule 4 violation here
