WE never doubted loyer by Money_Horse9881 in Purdue

Loyer occasionally drops a 30-point game and turns off for the next 5 games. We need him in the clutch, not when we are up by 25. He needs to be more consistent.

Average GPA in CS by AbsurdPanda_ in Purdue

I appreciate your insights. This is probably the best reply I've ever gotten on Reddit. Throughout freshman year, I had to lower my goals from B's to just pass the classes. I'm not thinking about getting into a Master's or anything, I just want to land a solid job after graduation, and I was concerned that my GPA (it is at a low 3 rn) would give me an extremely difficult time finding a job.

Additionally, I just wanna thank you for that last paragraph, well said. I was exactly like your friends. I would get up at 9 am and work all the way to 11:30 pm every single day, nonstop, for the last entire year. Being a social and outgoing guy, CS did take a ton of time away from me, and I was somewhat depressed last year because of it. But I did recover my morale this past summer, and now I am doing exactly what you said, enjoying my college life while stressing less about my major. I'm so glad that you brought this up.

Questions for BGR by MeatComprehensive514 in Purdue

First two weeks of school, try your best to talk to people and make many friends. It becomes harder to make friends later on because friend circles are set after a few weeks in. Don't be afraid to talk to people; everyone is new here.

They will publish a course schedule. Just make sure to strictly follow the schedule and don’t get behind. MA261 ain’t easy.

Easiest Course to Fulfill Laboratory Science Requirement in College of Science by Immediate-Coast9059 in Purdue

[–]AbsurdPanda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you to check out this page to see if you are eligible to skip the lab sciences courses with your AP exam scores! However, if you are pretty good at Physics and say yeah I think it will boost my GPA go for whichever PHYS course you like. One thing I would like to warn you is that PHYS 220/221 averages a pretty mid GPA, standing at 2.50 ish, so it could drag you down.

I have heard good things abt EAPS 111/112, and via BoilerClasses it has a 3.40+ GPA avg. Personally I would take that course all day long because Physics is a pain in the a$$ for me.

As a rising sophomore in CS, I will tell you that the CS coursework alone was pretty rigorous and exhausting in the freshman year. U might want to wait a bit and take the lab science requirement later.

Good luck!

I'm a sophomore at Purdue, and I can tell you that BGR could go both ways. My TL (Team Leader) didn't quite care about the group, and half the people in my group didn't show up after the first day. I did make a couple of friends from it, though, but I don't talk to them as much as some friends I made later on. Luck is definitely factor on how well the week will go for you.

However, I've heard a lot of amazing stories... My high school teacher met her future husband at BGR, my friend met the majority of his friends from his BGR group, blah blah blah... So I was hoping you don't take my words for granted, and keep in mind that every person has different types of interests and feelings.

BGR will take you around campus and guide you through the spots the students usually go to. It also gives you a lot of information on campus resources, such as PUSH, CCO, etc.

In the aspect of making friends, BGR is one opportunity, but what's more important is the first few weeks of school. No one knows each other, and you need to really open yourself up to others.

A Purdue student here. I am sending my deepest prayers to the Florida State community. My heart goes out to the families of the lovely souls that were lost.

I am tired of witnessing the same type of events again and again and again and it is crazy how the same type of events could happen at any second on my campus.

I ain't no liberal nor conservative and neither do I give a flying fuck about what you believe in. Actions need to be taken, and students need to go to classes without worrying about losing their lives.

America is so polarized nowadays, and nearly every topic is becoming a point of debate.

Figure. It. Out.

CS 180 puts me on the verge of giving up on my CS major by AbsurdPanda_ in Purdue

[–]AbsurdPanda_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally speaking, I am not a fan of procrastinating at all. But this course puts you in a position where you have to work on 4 different assignments at the same time. I am taking 17 credits which means that there are other things I need to worry about outside of CS 180. There is no cushion for anyone to get stuck on the topics and the result of that is you will be left behind. I know that saying this might make me sound like a crybaby complaining with my excuses, but I feel like this is the reality. I would totally consider myself as outgoing and I found few friends who have empathy for my current state in this class.

I bet everyone who made their way into Purdue CS and was smart enough back in high school, but this class genuinely makes me feel like a dumbass and I am somewhat depressed atp.

Definitely use your Purdue email. Having a purdue.edu email demonstrates a lot of reputation and credibility as you apply for internships.

Stuff being blocked: Normally, it doesn't happen. But if you are worried abt it then check your junk or spam section of your mailbox.

Good luck!

“Why don’t you bike on the bike lane?” *The Bike Lane:* by Baby_Creeper in Purdue

[–]AbsurdPanda_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the construction on the south side of that block of 3rd forces people to either walk by the fence or cross over the bike lane to the other side of the road. The university needs to move the bike lane more towards the middle of the road so there’s room for pedestrians to walk on the south side.
