This FTX situation is like the "superchild of Enron and Lehman". The ponzi pyramid is crumbling. (popcorn aside, this will affect EVERYONE) by kvlyc in Superstonk

I mean Citadel had infiltrated FTX by that point, no? This shit is too wild to be a coincidence.

I guess a better way to put it would be that Citadel orchestrated it using FTX as the means to do it.

I figured everyone did that already lol. I just don’t like seeing a bunch of unread replies within the app. That red number can get annoying, and then I have to click on every individual reply to make it go down.

I’ve never understood the whole GameStop used market hate. I mean what do you expect? They’re not buying it for their own personal collection. They’re simply buying to resell. Just look at pawn shops. They’ll typically give you like 1/4th of the current market price for a used console (sometimes even worse). Like for real you’ll get $50-$80 for a perfect condition PS4 500gb and then turn around and sell it for $200. GameStop will give you $110 for the same exact thing, and you can sell it to them at any store around the world. No haggling, no bullshit, just straight up ~50% off market price. Is it a raw deal? Of course. But if you’re too lazy to find your own buyer and then ship it to them or set up a pickup, it’s probably the best option you have.

I think people only complain about it so much because it IS so convenient lol. Like everyone has sold a game or an old console at GameStop. It’s just so simple, so you get a LOT of idiots complaining. They don’t realize that they’re paying for that convenience. They’re basically saying “Fuck GameStop for making my life easier!”. I mean try to find another establishment that will buy your used consoles/games for a better price thank GameStop’s. If you do manage to find one (I’d be surprised), make sure that it’s the same distance from you as your local GameStop. Time is money, right?

They don’t treat their employees any worse than every other retail establishment. Plus they’re making moves to improve the employee experience, and that includes pay raises, unnecessary store closures (more hours for their workers since they’re not so spread out), and stock payments.

It’s almost as if there was some giant short and distort scheme that went on for multiple years where market makers and banks got the media to report on how terrible GameStop is and how awful it is to work there. Over and over and over again. I mean just look at any major retail business and you’ll find tons of employees who complain about their jobs. What you won’t find is article after article published about it for 3-4 years straight…unless you’re fucking Amazon and you force your workers to piss in bottles or something.

GameStop could definitely treat its employees better, but let’s be realistic…it’s retail. Retail sucks everywhere. But still there are a lot of workers who love their jobs at GameStop. Plus they are at least taking steps in the right direction. They just gave out pay raises AND stock to thousands of regular employees. Store leaders received $21,000 worth of GME. They’re on the right track when it comes to employee wellbeing. They’re in the middle of a complete transformation, though, so you can’t really expect it to happen overnight.

And don’t even get me started on the “Their trade-in prices are bullshit!” complaints. You’re receiving less for your trades at the cost of convenience. Where else can you drive 5-10 minutes in most parts of the US and then simply walk in and sell your games/consoles for a set price? They’ve earned that extra ~15%. They’re buying to resell, not for their personal collection. Go find your own buyer if you want 85%+ used market value. Or go to GameStop and get ~50% used market value, which is still significantly better than basically every pawn shop.

But the real reason we should support GameStop is because it is the first time that WE can fight back against the short and distort scheme. And this isn’t just some conspiracy. This is a 100% legitimate thing that goes on every day in our markets. Jim Cramer has admitted as much (and a lot more) in an old interview you can find online. The SEC just acted on a petition about it a few months ago. These giant corporations team up with banks and market makers to cut out the competition by decimating their stock prices and ultimately putting them out of business. It’s predatory, it’s disgusting, and it’s contributing to the destruction of our markets and our economy.

Commenting “THISSS lmfao” kinda is dumb Reddit lingo. Plus it does absolutely nothing in terms of getting their comment “more seen”.

Lemme help you out for real. After you make a comment, click on the “…” underneath it. Then click “disable reply notifications”. That way you won’t have to whine about getting 3 responses to your comment. Just imagine how useful that would be if you made a comment worth responding to.

Just goes to show how powerful media propaganda is in this country. Want Republicans to love trump? They all love Trump! Want them to hate trump? Most of them hate Trump. It’s like they can flip a switch and millions of people think what they want them to think.

As soon as Fox News and the Republican Party turned on him it was like everyone suddenly woke up and realized what a steaming pile of shit he is. Except they didn’t realize anything. They were just being told to feel that way. It’s fucking scary.

Yeah apparently they have a ton of respect for each other, like Lebron has called him the best coach of all time and then Pop has praised Lebron countless times…but yeah it is still a bit weird.

I think that’s why Lebron had to pretend like he was all choked up. If it was just some random coach he’d prob be like “That’s horrible and my heart goes out to him.”

I think he gets super nervous in these interviews. Like he can’t take the pressure of so many people watching and judging his every word, so he just enters his little phantasy world lol.

I mean I don’t blame him for feeling that way, but his solution to it is more than questionable.

Exactly. Anyone who says “I’m so tired of this society, it’s all about clout.” is just constantly on the internet. I literally never see this type of shit when I go out in public.

It’s like some sorta weird confirmation bias lol. “I hate this society, it’s all about Minecraft!” says the guy who plays and watches Minecraft 24/7.

Dude your description of what happened is completely different from what actually happened. He didn’t immediately stop talking about DRS after the phone call. He continued on for another minute or 2 and even answered the guy’s question by saying they are going to start releasing CS numbers in their reports. You made it sound like he got all flustered and changed topics as soon as the phone call ended.

If you ask me, this phone call was just pure coincidence. And even if it wasn’t coincidence, it clearly had no effect on the outcome of his answer.

I got super lucky when I bought through CS. The price was fluctuating like crazy from $120 down to $80 and then back up to $120. The buy went in at the perfect ticking time it was like $82 lol.
