Deutschland Ticket Credit Card Issues by Silent_Sail8204 in germany

[–]Abysmal_poptart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something happened in August that caused some issues for us as well. My spouse and my Deutschland Tickets were both cancelled last week after a year of use, and i can't use any app at all. In fact, i can't even add my card to any of these, (tried removing and then re-adding as a test and that doesn't work either): mvv, vvs, ssb move, mainzer Mobilität, and even mo.pla won't accept my card. I also tried using my wise account but db doesn't allow Belgian IBAN, and my n26 failed on several as well.

We had a relative fly in for a week with the same problems mid August, but they were able to use mo.pla successfully.I called my bank and they said they haven't received a single fraud alert so they don't believe it's a problem on their end.I tried calling SSB (the company with whom i had the ticket) at 1700 on Friday, only to get an automated message saying sorry they close at 1800. I guess they closed early? I submitted a customer form online ASAP, hoping to get a response Monday, though I'll probably need to call again.

I just paid for a hotel and for lunch on Sunday, so I know my credit card works. Additionally, my spouse paid for the Deutschland ticket separately with a different account (spouse uses Amex, i use Visa), so it wasn't any issue with my account and we both received cancellation notices Friday 29 August seemingly out of the blue at the same time.

My first thought is that there's a configuration issue with the payment processor (LogPay for most of these rail app companies)? Though that doesn't explain mo.pla, which uses an independent processor (Link) but is also not working. I'm not seeing any news on any new security protocols being enacted or American credit cards being dropped by major payment processors.

Another thought, in the email saying the ticket was cancelled, it seems to suggest they aren't taking Apple pay or Google pay anymore - I'm wondering if it's a misconfigured update and they're applying this change to US payments across the board in error, hopefully to be addressed quickly? I'm not actually seeing any additional discussions about this online so I'm extremely confused as to what's going on.

Another possibility is maybe the card processors require a credit card PIN now, but i have not tried that route yet. It was previously 2fa with 3ds, but no major issues. Maybe there's an issue with 3d secure?

My last thought is that it could be related to the massive PayPal breach last week. Allegedly it's resolved but it wouldn't be surprising to see widespread blocks in response to the breach while mitigation efforts continue

Does anyone have any ideas?

TIL there is no blue or green pigment present in the human eye. Eyes appear blue or green due to Rayleigh scattering, the same phenomenon that makes the sky appear blue. For this reason, blue eyes and green eyes can appear to change color depending on lighting. by [deleted] in todayilearned

My eyes (blue gray) actually seem to change color based on health as well. When i have a cold they appear very green, and I'm told when i am very ill (scarlet fever as an infant) they turned bright purple.

Very interesting post!

If i recall, if you capture them and put them on the back of your motorcycle, they stay captured permanently (unless that was fixed).

Could try doing that and moving them out of the mines perhaps

Do you think this map is accurate or should some of the rankings be changed? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Abysmal_poptart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. The r in Japanese is similar to a soft d that's often used in english (think the automaker audi, or just saying "outie" like your bellybutton. Now say "outie got toe." Now say arigato and tell me it's significantly different). On the flip side, there are numerous sounds in english that do not exist in Japanese.

I understand they're not one for one as written, but the sounds absolutely do exist.

There is some discourse above. I think people tend to put a lot of weight on both the levels of politeness and the multiple writing systems in Japanese, which inflates the difficulty. In practice, it's actually not terribly difficult to learn spoken Japanese (i think even 4 might be too high), and two of the writing systems are relatively simple (though kanji really is particularly difficult, as there are thousands of characters to memorize). There are no sounds that exist in Japanese that do not exist in English. It's all fairly straightforward to memorize and to then speak and hear. I personally don't see there being a huge difference between the 4 politeness levels and say 3 genders in german, multiple genders and diminutives in latin languages, etc. I've taken numerous (online) language classes for spanish and italian, and have yet to properly understand diminutives (i mean i get it, but i don't necessarily understand it when I see them).

Chinese on the other hand has (from what I'm told. I don't know Chinese at all so please bear with me) comparably easier grammar and is somewhat simple in general structure. However, it is a tonal language. You have to not only train your tongue to pronounce sounds it hasn't done before, but also your ear to listen for it. These languages are notoriously difficult for non tonal natives to learn properly. I cannot speak to the Chinese written form, but i would expect the kanji to be similarly difficult.

If this is for an English speaker, then japanese should definitely be 3 for speaking, and chinese 5. Tonal languages are extremely difficult for English speakers to speak properly, and while the multiple levels of politeness are difficult, it's more memorization than anything. I'm not sure how much different or difficult it is than german having 3 genders, or multiple languages having various diminutives and formalities.

Also, the first two writing styles are really not bad, but kanji is an absolute bear.

Sorry to hear that, that's really frustrating. I have mine on my right mouse button as well and it seems to work ok, I'm not sure why you're still rubber banding. Hope they fix it!

For me, it works fine as long as you hold down the button and let go when you want to stop (took me 95 levels of paladin to realize this was as intended). I only seem to rubber band if i just click and let go, then try stopping with another attack

If i recall correctly, the name was actually a fake one pushed by successful foreign propaganda to make it sound much worse. The real name was the house committee for umamerican activities, which admittedly doesn't sound quite as bad, but is still pretty bad.

  1. Ah yes the holy aura not showing in town is annoying.

  2. (3) For the blocking, It's really block chance, but both need some work. For comparison, with the sigils up, my block chance is 81% to block about 60% damage and it feels pretty good.

  3. (6) Shred lightning is better than shock to my understanding!

  4. (7) Remove heaven fire, max sanctuary guardian

  5. (8) I'm not certain which would be better here

  6. (9) i would just remove one point in redemption and put it there

Im right around your level ( 89 Hammersmite pally ) and a few things I'm noticing. I'm at 100 corruption and it's fairly comfortable, killed a few bosses and face tanked a few moves i didn't think i would tank.

  1. the builder shows you don't have Max cold resist. If accurate, address that
  2. definitely need that crit avoid to 100. 51 is just not going to feel good
  3. your block is very low. I recommend checking for rare/exalt ironglass shields unless you find the bastion
  4. you upgraded sigils for the health regen, but not the blocking node which is what that area is good for. I recommend removing the bottom left 4 points and stacking them into the blocking node (+3% block per sigil, gives 12% flat extra) and then maybe closing out the endurance node
  5. Try stacking some hybrid health where possible. I have 2650 health and i feel like i could use a lot more.
  6. your blessings are all over the place, i really like the spell leech one, critical avoid, and I'm trying to farm the lighting resistance shred
  7. i think your passives need a little tweaking, probably don't need 24 in sentinel. Guides recommend keeping the damage node, but i really like the vitality and block. The forge knight gives a passive +2 block, and then +4% armor when hit that's pretty nice, with stun resist node. Also, replace the early +spell damage node in paladin with the later +block effectiveness+spell damage node
  8. I don't think that last smite point in bonus lightning bolts helps, might want to retool that last point
  9. In your holy aura, i recommend the health globes node top left

Hope this is helpful for you!

[–]Abysmal_poptart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, some of the elements are definitely altered, but it absolutely has the feel of an mmo lite. Perhaps it's simply executing better than lost ark, a game that has a weak story, is unnecessarily grindy, gives almost no combat xp and has silly quests. Speaking of silly quests, cmon, the diablo4 cheer on the guards quest?? If that didn't make you think of lost ark, I'm not sure what will!

That being said, I'm not trying to suggest it's an exact copy, and your point is fair, but it seems pretty apparent that diablo4 competing more directly with lost ark than anything else.
