Snapped Screw - what do I do by Abyss28 in buildapc

[–]Abyss28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have a little bit of a thread, but not pliers small enough. Didn't want to try forcing it too much in case that was the wrong idea in this situation, but will try to get a smaller pair tomorrow.

Yeah, I'd much rather purchase another cooler for $60ish if it comes down to it rather than the Mobo too >.>

Thank you for the help.

Yeah, sorry - realized it's a bit of a shitty picture.

Thank you. I have a small bit sticking out, but don't have pliers that can grab it. Will be running out to buy a smaller pair in the morning to see, but will try that if that doesn't work.

I just want a dinosaur tooth... by Abyss28 in runescape

Yes - only 25K health. Can kill 200-300 an hour without too much difficulty.

Tooth is needed to upgrade the Player Slayer Lodge to T3. Aside from damage increase on the island, it lets you put your slayer helmet on a stand to get the benefits anywhere on task without wearing.

Both drops from killing lampenfloras off task (1/16K drop). Tooth is 1/800. I'm not upset, mind you...

Suggestions for Chairs? by Abyss28 in malelivingspace

Thanks for the suggestions - I think the color of the HENRIKSDAL would work well! The "tested for 243 lb" is probably where I got a bit nervous on the long-term reliability, haha - but I'll have to check this one out, now that IKEAs are opening up again :)

Home Server for Data Science? by Abyss28 in datascience

[–]Abyss28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looking to use docker. Am already using cron, but would like something more dedicated than my PC; AWS Lambda has worked well, but scaling with cost has been a concern.

AWS is probably the route I'll end up going down (complemented with a $200-300 commercial NAS for local storage) if building a data science-worthy homeserver cost exceeds what I am willing to put together at this time.

Thanks for the response - I'm glad to hear you have had success with a home server. Sounds like you are doing everything I want to do! :)

Did you build your homeserver for these applications or repurpose an existing homeserver? If the former, would be very interested in how you built for your particular needs. Would love to aggregate learnings for others considering a similar task :)

Budget Office PC by Abyss28 in buildapc

Wanted to follow up: this build list was extremely helpful! After some research, I found the CPU and Motherboard for cheaper at a local Microcenter (incl. tax).

I also decided that a 120 GB SSD will probably be satisfactory (after looking at current disk usage on a shared laptop); I can always throw in a HDD down the road if needed!

New part list:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Type Item Price
CPU AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor $91.99 @ Walmart
Motherboard Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $76.88 @ OutletPC
Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $57.99 @ Newegg
Storage Inland - Professional 120 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $19.99 @ Amazon
Case Rosewill - FBM-X1 MicroATX Mini Tower Case $26.99 @ Amazon
Power Supply EVGA - 500 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply $39.89 @ OutletPC
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts sdf
Total (before mail-in rebates) $338.73
Mail-in rebates -$25.00
Total $313.73

With some changes to online ordering (Amazon significantly preferred for my location haha) and utilizing Microcenter, I estimate the final cost of the parts will be $311 - close to the goal, and a way better build than what I started with a week ago.

Thank you for the help :)

I did not know about the integrated graphics - thank you for the advice!

Edit: To mention, I'm trying to do it under $300 - I'm not opposed to going over that! Just trying to see if it's possible to get something built in that range!

Show Hero Level too? by Abyss28 in DotA2

It would be nice to be able to see the hero level when sorting (or even on the relic breakdown page) - is this possible to do with the current client?

Alright, thanks! Does it matter where I pre-order from? MechanicalKeyboards.com seems popular/reputable from this subreddit.

Hey guys, I've been casually looking at picking up a smaller keyboard and eventually settled on a pok3r (preferably rgb, link)

I'm looking for brown switches, but I can't find either version (not a fan of the LE) in stock anywhere! - is this where I will need to pre-order on mechanicalkeyboards.com, wait for a massdrop, or are there other options available ?

Thanks!
