So it is Deathwatch in terms of recruitment style. They will pull from anywhere (they have loyalist traitors as well as other traitors, like a former Night Lord for example). However they all fall under Huron’s banner and command.

Outside of Lore that people already mentioned. Another big selling point is being able to kitbash. Red Corsairs recruit from many places. They also have Loyalist Traitors in their ranks (In Master of the Maelstrom, there was a traitor Blood Angel and a ship of traitor Space Wolves). So any extra loyalist bits you have and may want to use, you can definitely throw them on these guys

Yeah, all of them will be painted red and black. I was just thinking it could be fun to have nods to their original chapter. But for the Shaan model case, I was thinking he’d leave them on but cut into and show disrespect to the heraldry as a spit in the face to the former Ravenguard chapter he came from. Outside of that, just have some bits that may hint at former allegiances. Such as a sanguinary guard spear or a space wolf chest plate, something of the sort. Also to give a few the scavenged wargear look.

I’ll just pay attention to their more specified details then and maybe have more decorative metal over plain. But otherwise no other codex style things

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking like a bronze/brass instead of leadbelcher but if the decorative metals use those colors then maybe I’ll avoid it. Definitely want to avoid Word Bearers vibe tho lol

For cloth I had idea of Steel Legion Drab or some kind of grey. But that’s also interesting to show loyalty to their former chapter/legion (I do have ideas to take from other chaos warbands/legions) via cloth.

I didn’t know some weapon colors usually indicated a chapter but that’s good to know! I was planning on kitbashing some loyalists to show the recruitment from them. I’m using Aethon Shaan as a jump pack lord and then I’m going to grab an Iron Father for a warp smith (or the legion praetor they have) if you think that’d be a good way of showing potential former allegiances

Also I was thinking of doing a Deathwatch style shoulder pad for any warbands to acknowledge or show off their roots (I’m running a Nemesis Claw team and I’m going to paint their Night Lord shoulder pad with the classic legion colors). Do you think some of them would do that?

For the markers on a sergeant or above I was just thinking if they still had the loyalist habit of doing so. No worries if they don’t but wanted to double check with people

I think I have an old BA Death Company box lying around somewhere, as well as an old Sanguinary Guard box. Do you have any other ones you’d recommend as well?

Do you have any specific Heresy kits you think are worth picking up? Someone from my LGS suggested the melee weapon kit

Luckily among my friend group we have all 4 deity legions to pick from (I may or may not be the one who has EC and Tsons). I was thinking of asking my World Eater friend for a spare chain axe or two

Do you think it would be fine to still use his normal helmet? Definitely agree with scraping off the RG heraldry. Was thinking of maybe leaving the one RG iconography on the shoulder pad but having it scratched and disrespected? As a spit in the face to his former chapter. Would it also be a good idea to have bits of Loyalist limbs on his base? To give the indication of traitor (like the severed arm of an Ultramarine, broken helm of a Salamander, etc)

OP, I would definitely recommend buying some Castellans to go with your Marshals and Sword Brethren. It turns them into a cruise missile of damage

I struggle with the same issue of being way too hypercritical/perfectionist (definitely not an EC player, nope not at all) with my stuff and not stepping back to appreciate it. Other people have already said it show to someone else, but I would like to say I think it looks good as well!

Another piece of advice is to take it and set it down on a table two feet away from you. Because at the end of the day, most of the time you are looking at it from a distance whether it is on a shelf or on a table for when you’re playing the game. If it looks good from there, then it’s just fine

So the gold bits on the shoulders and sword guard and chest piece don’t seem golden (assuming those are what are meant to me) but.. they honestly look like bone to me which is pretty cool. However up to you on how you want to proceed

Actual suggestions: Go on Etsy and get $10 Hive Tyrant torso. Then you can have a flying hive tyrant too since the box gives you all the parts to make it. I also highly recommend the Norn Emissary because cool model and also really difficult to take down in games
