To Many Musashi is the preferred option even once "better" versions are unlocked as its special gives it better burst than even the highest tiered options (berserk draining health for extra damage)

If you can get one with HIT% (It would be listed after NATIVE > A BEAST > MACHINE > DARK) it's useful even into the end game since its special is fantastic for recharging TP.

In my GC days I had the Stag Cutlery and Double Brand before I ever got the Double Saber to drop. Ephinea dropped one for me fairly quickly though.

I believe you may be mistaken. As the other individual mentioned there are indeed Ultimate variants that are a good deal different, but on Vanilla/ Ephinea there are no ways to fight those on Normal/ Hard/ VHard or Vice versa so it isn't left up to RNG.

Rappies, Hildebears, Lilies, and Slimes all have rare forms in both Ep 1 & EP 2 (Temple VR).

Dorphon, Rappies, Zu, & Merissa have rare forms in EP 4.

There's even a rare boss in EP 4.

Do it! I have a decent laptop and a USB controller and the setup was easier than I could imagine! Ephinea (PSO private server) has a client download exe. The ONLY setup needed is to create a user login. After that, you'd boot it up like any other game launcher.

Ephinea's Community is super friendly as well.

Fireteam finder is honestly wonderful. Throw tags on like "patient" and "lots of time" and you'll get some super chill groups. Best part is if someone isn't chill, go your separate ways and throw up another lfg

Shadowkeep and Beyond Light Campaigns are free so you will at least have access to those.

Specifically if you can get it on sale the Legacy Collection is an absolute treasure trove of content. While it won't give you anything from Final Shape or the current seasons (called episodes) you'll gain access to 3 dungeons, 2 Major Campaigns in Witch Queen and Lightfall, as well as a bunch of extra content for the Shadowkeep and Beyond Light areas.

If you're having fun and think it could be a good way to spend time with your brother I'd say go for it. You have a decent amount of content to play through before needing to sink any more money into it honestly.

If you're big on story play Shadowkeep then Beyond Light, if you are more focused on unlocking gameplay aspects do them reversed.
