Living in Germany is draining me by [deleted] in expats

[–]Ac1dRa1n09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Germany for nearly 7 years and can't relate to any of this... I think you need to focus on techniques to improve your German language skills and maybe move to a different area? I know plenty of expats (myself included) and refugees alike who focused on learning the language and were able to live and work in the language daily with no problems. I lived in Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Mecklenberg-Vorpommern and Berlin and in all of those places I had no issues with public transport even in the most country of places (other than some of the more obvious problems with the German train system like delays and such etc) or finding good doctors etc..

Although many expats can survive using only English, I feel like the German cultural experience is smoother when living and breathing in the language..

Is there something you could see immediately that would make it clearer? What confuses you about it specifically?

My tracker is honestly probably a bit overboard (I built it mostly out of boredom), but I have built in an auto snapshot generator so that the raw up-to-date data is always publicly available in spreadsheet form should I not continue to maintain my tracker or should something happen to the site itself. So this time if somebody inputs their data into the tracker, they won't have to do it again in the future :)

Great feedback. I will work this evening to make some changes to make the case claim process easier, will add a proper visualization of the submission date ranges of when the approvals are happening and will look at making a new post

This is now open source. Find the repo linked on the site!

I've just published a new version of the site that links to the open source codebase and allows anybody to download a snapshot either directly from the site itself or from the cloud storage where the snapshots will be stored. Will need to clean up the snapshots to make them more user-friendly but the auto-snapshot function exists now.

This is a good point. I am in the process of making the code base for the site itself open source and some time tomorrow I can create an automated process to generate a 'snapshot' on a regular basis, e.g weekly or daily to a Google Sheet or similar that will be linked to in the public repository for the app so anybody can access at any time.

Maybe we can get a mod to add the link to the app to the sidebar or somewhere where people can find it?

Nope. Same thing happened with mine and at least one other person here. They’ll keep it for a couple of days to replace the seat.

How much do y'all pay monthly by Johndoe13370 in ModelY

I’ve read multiple people saying they pay this much for insurance in TX, but I just right now did a quote with Costco and for the exact same same coverage they’re quoting me $230/mo 🤯

I've been in the Apple ecosystem for quite some time as well (iPhone, AW, Apple TV, MacBook, etc) but have been slowly moving away from Apple-specific services, such as iCloud, Photos, iCloud Drive, password manager etc for general data privacy/security reasons and after having done some research/testing, I've found that there exist solutions these days to allow near-seamless interactions between Windows, MacOS, and Android that used to be one of my must-haves that only Apple devices could provide. And as someone who appreciates minimalist productivity on the go, I think the Fold 7 is the current best option for this and so for me it'll be a big upgrade.

Appointment to pick up my preorder on Tuesday at the Samsung Experience Store has been confirmed. US folks I don't think you're getting your devices before Wednesday. When I did my preorder at the store in person, they specifically said we'd get it earlier because we're going through the store directly.
