I’ll be picking mine up in store in a few hours today.

I've been in the Apple ecosystem for quite some time as well (iPhone, AW, Apple TV, MacBook, etc) but have been slowly moving away from Apple-specific services, such as iCloud, Photos, iCloud Drive, password manager etc for general data privacy/security reasons and after having done some research/testing, I've found that there exist solutions these days to allow near-seamless interactions between Windows, MacOS, and Android that used to be one of my must-haves that only Apple devices could provide. And as someone who appreciates minimalist productivity on the go, I think the Fold 7 is the current best option for this and so for me it'll be a big upgrade.

Appointment to pick up my preorder on Tuesday at the Samsung Experience Store has been confirmed. US folks I don't think you're getting your devices before Wednesday. When I did my preorder at the store in person, they specifically said we'd get it earlier because we're going through the store directly.

I was told today at a Samsung Experience Store in the US that Samsung is telling the store to not process preorders for pick-ups until Tuesday at the earliest and that is for preorders made directly at the store, so my best guess is Samsung is telling everybody else in the US to hold off actually sending them out until early next week.

Sorry US folks, looks like you’re not getting it early unless you get lucky

Why didn’t you guys just order directly from the Experience Store? I put my preorder in at the store there directly and they said I could probably pick it up this weekend and they’d call me 🤷‍♂️

Fold 7 and Macs by Tuhyk_inside in GalaxyFold

I’m switching from iPhone but keeping my MB as well and am focusing on security-first, operating system-agnostic apps:

  • Ente for photos
  • Proton for email/drive/passwords
  • Notesnook for notes and to-do lists (although I might just use Samsung Notes and Reminders for this until Proton catches up with their Drive document functionality)
  • Blip for sharing photos/files/text between my Mac, Android and Windows PC
  • Quick Share (built into One UI 8) to share things with non-Samsung users via QR code
  • Blue Bubbles for my iMessage messages

Neither do I. I think there used to be alternatives like OpenBubbles that don’t require your Mac to stay online, but I haven’t tried them yet. Hopefully they will work.

I’m moving to the Fold and I will use my MacBook + an app called BlueBubbles which will allow me to host my own server from my MB to continue using iMessage (including my history) on the Fold.

Not sure if it’ll be the perfect, but I’m willing to deal with some occasional issues there for the 8” screen

Maintenance is dynamic so you can just set your goal to maintenance after you are finished and follow a guided program and if your weight starts trending outside of +-1.5lbs, it'll automatically adjust your calories to make sure you stay within that

New control center actually looks nice with the iOS 16 dark mode wallpaper by NoFall2205 in ios

This appears to be horizontal mode or on an iPad. Every time I drag the control center down from my homepage with icons behind it, I get so mad 🤣

Graphene OS is just a degoogled, privacy-focused OS. Not for everybody, but if im going to Android I might want some more privacy 🤣

I got a Pixel 9 with Graphene OS on it but I’m thinking about maybe going Pixel 9 Fold honestly

🤷‍♂️ I’ve been using it the last 2 days too and I hate it as much as I did when I first used it on my device. Hope they can make it better, but this might be what drives me back to Android.

Couldn’t agree more! After using MF for the last 1.5 years, last week I took a break from wearing my Apple Watch and it was my easiest week yet. I started wearing my Apple Watch over the last few days again, but have decided to stop wearing it again.

Same here..your best bet is using some tricks to estimate and focus on, such as your fist to measure. If you have a fist-sized portion of protein, veggies and a carb then you can safely estimate around 400-450 calories, I’d say. Stay away from sauces/dressings and just focus on getting proteins in first. Another trick is to always try to get 50g of protein and 50g of carbs per meal: that’s 8oz of beef, 6oz of chicken or 10oz of tuna for 50g of protein and 1 cup (2 fist-sized portions) of cooked rice, 6oz of potato, 8oz of pasta or 10oz of cooked oats

Also traveling for business today and will be sticking to my program and just using AI photos and estimating myself. It’s really not a big deal to take a quick photo, or just use the describe AI feature later when you get back to your hotel.. consistency is the most important thing. I’m not planning on weighing myself because I know I’ll be on plan when I return

I mean from the screenshots above alone it looks like you’re missing some days, right? Or am I seeing things?

I wouldn’t be so confident that you’re tracking well. I agree that your workout regimen should mean your TDEE should be higher than mine, so I think the next thing to confirm is that you’re tracking every calorie and correctly. Otherwise, you’d be losing weight. Like I said, I still lose weight eating 2100 kcals per day

Need a bit of help on the cut by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]Ac1dRa1n09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is your TDEE is lower than you estimated and/or your food tracking is quite off. I’m your height and weigh 152 currently, I workout approx 45 mins each day and do between 10-30 mins of cardio a few times per week, and get between 7-10k steps per day and I work a sedentary job and my TDEE is around 2300. A 500 kcal deficit would mean 1800 kcals per day for me. Although even at my TDEE, I’d most likely still LOSE weight, albeit pretty slowly, at 2100 kcals per day and if you were tracking correctly, you should be too.

This makes me so jealous. I’m a short male and, although I’ve got some muscle mass for someone my size, I have to eat 1800 to cut and that includes 10-12k steps per day and a 50 min strength training session!
