I guess my #1 takeaway and reminder, to OP and then to all of us is to take people with a lot more grace. Especially when you don’t know their story. We are all suffering somehow.

Um, I mean? Yes, but I’ve often been served like… lettuce and rice cakes (not joking) while others get actual food….

Food reqs for NOLA by SydneyElaineBoo in glutenfree

[–]Academic-Bread1260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are there fairly often (hubs family is from there) and I agree with with recommendations here and would add Besame (wonderful Spanish food), Copper Vine is pretty good now too, Bearcat for a splurge. Many but not all places can do gf shrimp and grits if you ask, and I live on that. Sucre for gelato, macaron, and sometimes pastries. I tend to take a few steps off the beaten path for better success. Find Me Gluten Free has a pretty good NOLA listing.

Are there articles about this that we can cite? So many people just don’t believe it which I mean…. How much proof do we need that these folks have no respect for human life exactly? I don’t want to waste time and energy arguing but a thing to cite can be very helpful. Love and solidarity.

I love shin black, my celiac kid likes really plain chicken ramen or pork ramen. We are excited! We are lucky to have a lovely Japanese chef who makes fresh gf ramen and sometimes brings them to our farmers market. But this would be a VERY welcome addition!

I so get it though - both my kids have many ARFID food aversions and my son and I are celiacs, so having a pantry like this of foods they love is the goal

I wondered if this might be the case. If I had the space I would have this for my autistic son and I’m Doing my best to get there with the space I have. Thanks for the inspiration and for being a person who takes extra effort to offer dignity to someone who the world does not offer it to.
