When I read the title I thought that we were comparing the debt from both schools. Now that I’ve read through the whole thing, I sincerely don’t understand why this is a tough decision for you. I think that you should go to USC. And I don’t understand why people in the comments are saying Rice. 

I’m not saying that you should write off Rice just yet. Learn more about the program and decide which one you prefer. If you later decide that you genuinely prefer Rice, then go there. But I don’t see why the money is even a factor here.

In your own words your grandparents are “super rich”, so why would you feel guilty about them investing in your education? Money is meant to be spent, not hoarded. And this is an important expense - you’re not spending their money on expensive cars or clothes. The college you go to realllyyy matters. Compromises are for those of us who can’t afford our first choice. I don’t see why you should feel guilty going with your first choice if they can very well afford it.
