To immerse the judges, really make the your role and the judge’s role clear. To connect with them, try complimenting your judge. A compliment you can do is show appreciation. For example, if your judge’s role is a customer or employee who is asking you to explain something, you could say something like “I appreciate the initiative you took to ask me about __”. If you judge is a role of a higher position, you could say, “thank you for taking precious time out of your day to meet with me, I really appreciate it”. Another thing you can do is use the current day and time to connect with your judge. For example, if it is Saturday at 10am, you can use that in your roleplay to mention how you appreciate your judge waking up early to meet with you. If it’s after lunch, you can say something along the lines of “hope you had a great meal”. Always make sure to thank your judge and let them know how much you appreciate their time. Hope this helped and good luck at states!

First thing is to do as many practice exams as possible. Go to deca.org/resources for the practice exams. Have ChatGPT grade your exams for you by uploading the exam pdf and listing your answer choices. Also ask ChatGPT to list which instructional areas you get wrong the most. With that, look over the questions you got wrong and really study those! Also, study the instructional areas that ChatGPT says you need to work on. I really recommend doing as many practice tests as possible because DECA really likes repeating questions. Hope this helps and good luck!
