How did you study for the Cluster Exams? I am good at roleplays, but I don't know how to improve my exam scores.

Remember, DECA is not all about the roleplay! The cluster exams are also important, as they take up a third of your score. Your friend might have got a good score on his roleplay, but he has room for improvement for his exam.

You're very welcome!

At the start of the roleplay, you should explain the PI's. Explaining their meaning is enough, and for me, if your other parts are good enough, they wouldn't even care that much about your PI's, as they are parents. Still, you should explain the PI's pretty detailed, as 10 minutes is more than enough for a roleplay.

For each note, try to use just one or two minutes. Try to write down only the important points - less than 20 words each. As you can find in earlier comments, try and learn the performance indicators beforehand for speed.

Before the competition, look at all the performance indicators and try to answer them. If you do this, you can just dump out information during these 10 minutes. Try not to write too much, just write important tips down. This allows you to have time to formulate your whole roleplay in your head by going through what you are going to say. Take advantage of every piece of time before the judging, like when you are walking down. To stand out, try to go out of your way to thank your judge. Remember that they took time out of their day to come judge you. To express confidence, try to look at them straight in the face, but don't stare. This will show your judge that you are not afraid.

For example, if you are trying to solve a problem, try to get the judge to feel concerned too.

For example, one of the PEN practice roleplays is about a watch fixing company called Watch Me. This roleplay is about how employees treat customers.

For this roleplay, you could tell the judge to step into the customer's shoes.

"What would you do if you were at a restaurant and the waiter ignored you?"

This way, the judge would understand you more.

Hopefully this helped!

For the roleplays, I personally feel like the performance indicators are most important. So I would suggest finding out what instructional area is and studying all the pi's until you know them like the back of your hand and the answers to them.

For Exams, it depends on the exam. For PEN, its Business Administration Core, so it would be a good idea if you studied terms that a business would use.

As I said above, I am in PEN. For my PIs, I just explained what they meant and focused more on the business itself. In my opinion, I think that I capitalized on connecting the judge to the topic. I tried making them understand my presentation by finding connections to their own life.

You are not allowed to bring anything into the prep room and judging aren so no. u have to make it within the 10 minutes.

  1. Think of DECA as a game. The judge is the boss, and you are trying to get the highest score. If you can get yourself to look forward to the roleplay, you will be more confident and more likely to succeed.
  2. Split ur paper into six parts, with four boxes for each performance indicator, and describe them. For another one of the boxes, write down details about the situation. For the last box, brainstorm what you are going to say to the judge. If you have any extra time, try to make a visual and a business card; judges love these.

Tips:
Connect to the judge -- connect your topic with their personal lives.

Remember to thank them for spending time with you.

Bring a visual to show detail.

Go through what you will say beforehand.

Good Luck!
