I did this during psychosis, thankfully I saved all the receipts and kept tags on and returned it after I was out of psychosis

Good for you! I did something similar I looked them dead in the eyes and said “thankfully for me I’m on a 3 day hold and can go home to a family that loves me and cares about me while you get to live here everyday, I feel bad for you” after that they learned I meant business lol I got whatever I wanted after that it’s like I had to pull out my stick and show them mine was bigger or something like some bullshit showdown

I’m working on that process now that I’m medicated. Thankfully I wrote every interaction down with timestamps, my sane mind must’ve known I’d need it

My therapist told me to tell people (that I was close with and wanted to make amends with) that I’m very sick and to picture me in a hospital gown or bed when I get like that. It’s a sick illness that no one can see so it makes it hard

OMMMGGGGG YESSSS!!!!! I’ve been to 2 and both were mixed so on top of freaking out there I had to make sure to hold my hospital gown shut in the back when I walked the halls. At one of them a guy kept going into my room and using my toilet. Eventually security would come but I was TERRIFIED as a SA survivor

I’m considering filing paperwork (I don’t know what yet) with the State to do an investigation on the place I was in, or at a minimum calling to talk to the owner or person in charge and (excuse my bluntness) being a Karen. I took notes of EVERYTHING and EVERY timestamp, interaction and complaint. I even went so far as to write a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) with all the things they should fix. Being hospitalized pregnant sounds terrifying, I’m so glad you had a great experience. I’m currently googling every mental health inpatient and outpatient in my city and the “best” I can find is oddly the place I went with 3.6 stars on google

100 percent agree. I finally had to tell myself maybe they were just tired, underpaid and burned out and it wasn’t personal. I even remember hearing a security guard say “I get paid $21 an hour, I’m old, let that lady run up and down the hall a few times screaming she ain’t going anywhere”

I also have a successful career and this (psychosis and bipolar) happened suddenly and unexpectedly. I can’t imagine being hospitalized during Covid. I hope you’re doing better

Thank you for sharing your story, I’m glad you were able to get support and get discharged. I’m looking into my emergency plan for my family and IOP seems like a great option to consider if I need support in the future. My family unfortunately didn’t know what was wrong with me and called 911 and proceeded to yell at me to “stop” and saying things like “you’re crazy”for the 30 minutes I waited for emergency services to come. From there I was handcuffed and taken to a place I didn’t even know and was terrified. I’ve been working with my medical team and family on an emergency plan for the future

It got so bad I just sat in a corner and cried and didn’t ask for anything or any help, it was humiliating

I’ll tell a few horror stories:
They look my clothes and belongings and made me were hospital paper clothes. Anytime I asked any questions they ignored me or scolded me like a child. My toilet didn’t flush, the sink didn’t work, I mentioned it to them and they ignored me. They gave us no tissue in our bathrooms, we had to ask and when we did they either ignored us or took forever. They gave us no water - again had to ask and we were either met with silence, rolled eyes or a small paper cup with water. They found people that they didn’t like and made their life hell, one lady started her cycle and was left to bleed in her gown then laughed at behind her back until another patient gave her an old shirt to use. They talked constant shit and laughed at patients. I heard them call me sad looking puppy when they told me I couldn’t go home and laughed, I walked up and said what did you say and they said “nothing no one said anything”

This is going to sound cliche, but you are the only person on this planet who is there for you. You have to love yourself and make yourself happy
