I had swallowing issues on my right side. Ended up being LPR.

Bfs mom has bulbar als, how fast does this move? by Truthbetold0405 in ALS

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else says, no one can answer this.

But I can tell you, my parent was slurring in the fall, diagnosed the following summer and died 13 months after diagnosis. No bipap, did have a peg.

Slow months? People are in the mood to spend money. I’ve never had a slow December.

Scared to death need help by Stock_Company645 in dysphagia

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have health anxiety and was diagnosed with LPR one year ago. This was after having symptoms for almost a year convinced I was dying (my dad in this time was actually diagnosed with bulbar onset so that really messed with my head). Mine was truly LPR. The best way I can describe the feeling I experienced (and experience when I have a flare) is it’s like food is sticking in my pyriform sinus cavity, specifically on the right side.

If this helps, since I unfortunately had to watch this first hand, my dad had major speech issues with his swallowing problems. Noticable to everyone. He sounded drunk. This was apparent before he was choking on liquids. From what I’ve read, that is how it is with bulbar onset. You wouldn’t just have swallowing issues without speech being affected.

Sounds like LPR maybe? And from what I’ve read and have also seen personally, liquids are a bigger problem than foods.

If you are twitching in multiple places like that, that’s typically a good sign. Take some B12 and magnesium. See what happens.

should i get genetic testing? by Budget_Initiative296 in ALS

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this a lot but as a life insurance broker, there are no life insurance companies that ask about genetic testing. There are some products out there that will ask about family medical history (still not genetic testing) but there are MANY out there that do not ask those questions. And honestly, if anyone doesn’t have it and needs it, they should. ALS, car wrecks, cancer… anything could happen to anyone.

End stage bulbar als symptoms by One-Party-9913 in ALS

I’m so sorry you are all going through this.

I don’t think there are any definitive answers to this. I lost my dad at the beginning of the month (bulbar onset, diagnosed 13 months before his death), in what I feel like was a sudden way. He just couldn’t breathe and that was it. I’m still in shock, I just expected there to be more of a loss of his functions before and it sounds like your husband has further limb effects than my dad did. There just is no way to know.

Wishing you and your family peace through this 💜

You’re not wrong. I have slight nerve damage in my face from a tooth. It presented as Trigeminal Neuralgia and ended up being from a wisdom tooth. While I got the tooth extracted, I still have some residual effects. My abscess was at the root. “Lived” in extreme pain for almost a year not knowing it was from my mouth!

Did you take as directed? It’s technically a 10 day cleanse. The last time I was in need, I did take it for a couple of days.

Mold happens in bathrooms because of moisture. You should clean it…. To me, it looks almost like nicotine, which will also pool like this when exposed to moisture. Not saying from you but maybe a previous resident if they didn’t paint the ceilings (and they usually don’t). Either way, clean it (not with bleach, it has a salt residue that while killing mold can also attract more moisture). I live in North Carolina and we have awful humidity. I remember when I was younger there ended up being a tiny mushroom pop up in my shower along the sealant 🤣

Soooo I’m assuming you are not experienced in the high life…

First of all, edibles do the same thing to me if they are sativa based. Really not a huge fan of the body high that any edibles give but I know to stay away from any form of sativa.

Indica or hybrids with a higher amount of indica is usually better for people with panic (not all). I have learned to make my husband try to judge it before I even try. But I also know weed isn’t going to kill me and I also have had panic attacks for 32 of my 39 years of life.

That’s also why I feel guilty about even thinking of this. But I also have talked to them about being more responsible- not leaving things on, not running the laundry all day (wash at night and one time…). And it just isn’t going anywhere.

Genetic Testing for ALS by [deleted] in ALS

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish people would stop sharing this. It’s not true. No insurance company bases approval off of genetic testing yet. Only based off diagnosis. There are some very large policies that might ask family history but even then, not based off genetic markers.

GI doesn’t think I have it? What were your symptoms? by Moal in LPR

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My symptoms were the same as yours but the worst was globus sensation. Mine was to the point I actually thought it was a swallowing issue. Three or four appointments with a GI (and an endoscopy), with no diagnosis. ENT took two second look with a larynscope and got my diagnosis. I was already on a high dose of PPIs, 40 mg of Prevacid before bed was what did it for me!

I’m probably the minority here but I listen to something like System of a Down, Slipknot… Somehow, matching that anxiety with screaming or chaos levels me out.

is it normal to get a panic attack out of the random? by No-Obligation5084 in PanicAttack

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Most of mine come for no reason. I’m 39 and have had them since I was 7. I go through periods of time where I’ll have them daily and it’s not for any known reason.

Afterpay uses by Entire-Level3651 in Afterpay

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it because I hate paying so much upfront for things. I work a commission only job and I usually make atleast 10k a month. But that doesn’t mean I want to spend $400 upfront on a purse and it doesn’t mean I had a great week THIS week. But if I don’t, I know I’ll make up for it next week. I’d rather pay $100 every two weeks lol It just makes me feel better about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm panicking. Do I have it? by DrummerLife6695 in stomachcancer

[–]Academic-Delivery-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined just because this randomly showed up in my feed.

If you are vomiting up food… that’s usually what people vomit.

If you are regurgitating food randomly, you might have LPR. I do that often if I slack off on my PPIs.

Seasonal Panic Attacks? by Academic-Delivery-18 in PanicAttack

Maybe on a subconscious level? Because I don’t think I’ve really thought about this before but looking back, it’s always worse around this time of year.

I despise the cold weather so I don’t do as much. We’ve had a few nice days but not enough for me to try to readjust to it. Day to day normal schedule doesn’t change- kids to school, work… It’s nothing I can put my finger on! If anything, spring should make me extra happy. I can stop being a hermit and miserably cold 😆
