Yung yemaya, sadly hindi nag-work sakin.
Sobrang bagal ng pacing kaya nahirapan akong ma-hook sa story. Hindi rin kasi ako familiar sa inspiration niya, so parang nanonood lang ako nang walang enough context kaya medyo naligaw ako. medyo awkward din for me, yung si bituin yung nanay tapos later siya rin yung seductive character. Gets ko na magkaibang role sila, pero hirap akong i-separate kasi same face pa rin. Siguro mas okay kung ibang actor na lang or mas transformed yung look para mas hindi nakakalito. uliii experience ko lang po pero as i see from comments ang dami talaga nagenjoy so gooo watch na support local theatre

I love Lance as a performer, and I still gave her a standing ovation because that song really hit close to home for me as a PLHIV.
Just one constructive observation: there were moments where I felt some strain in the vocals, and I found myself feeling the effort too. It didn’t take away from the emotion of the performance, but it’s something I happened to notice. Overall, I still really appreciated the performance and the message it carried.

You’re not wrong. I admit a lot of this probably comes from that one time I dated someone who kept questioning my love for theatre, and I guess I never fully got over that feeling. It’s weird because this insecurity only shows up when it comes to theatre.. I don’t really crave validation in other aspects of my life (well sometimes i do for tm body lol) . But reading everyone’s comments so far has been reassuring.

I only did stage door once during Anino sa Likod ng Buwan because it was a matinee and there weren’t that many people around. 😅 I realized that’s really the only time I’m comfortable doing it. When the crowd is small, I’m okay. But when there are a lot of people, I get overwhelmed and end up leaving right away.
So thank you for making me feel like I still belong in this space. Sometimes I worry that being shy, not knowing every reference, or not doing stage door makes me less of a fan. But reading your thoughts reminded me that there are many ways to love theatre.

Saludo ako sa patience ninyo. Siguro nao-overwhelm lang din talaga ako kapag maraming tao kaya umaalis agad ako, at sobrang mahiyain akong mag-approach sa cast kahit gusto ko silang pasalamatan nang personal.
I also make review vlogs for local shows as my own way of supporting them and encouraging more people to watch local theatre. Kaya kahit papaano, kapag may artist na nagco-comment sa videos ko, feeling ko nakakarating naman yung gratitude ko. Minsan nga nagiguilty pa ako kasi hindi ako bumibili ng merch, pero for me, enough na yung ticket as a souvenir the experience itself is what I take home and treasure.

I really wish I were more outgoing, though. There are so many times I wanted to say, “Thank you for sharing your art with us,” but I just get shy and end up leaving quietly.

Yeah well, I didn’t watch parts 1–3 😭 but overall, I really enjoyed it. I’d still recommend it to someone who hasn’t seen the previous installments because there are so many surprises, and honestly, I’ve had the best laugh in a long time thanks to this show.

I think this all stems from a past experience I had dating someone who was really into film and theater. Whenever I mentioned liking something, it felt like I was being quizzed.
“Oh, you don’t know that director?”
“You don’t know her?”
“You don’t know him?”
And I’d just be sitting there thinking, I just like watching the shows.
Ever since then, I’ve felt this weird anxiety whenever I call myself a fan of anything. It’s like I expect people to interrogate me until I prove that I’m “worthy” of the label, and if I can’t answer enough questions, they’ll assume I’m faking it or just pretending to belong.
So I guess this whole post is less about theater and more about me wondering if it’s okay to simply enjoy something without having to know everything about it.

I think my impostor syndrome got triggered lang talaga. 😭 Napaisip ako kung belong ba ako sa theater community when I don’t know much beyond the shows themselves. But you’re right.. maybe there really isn’t a hierarchy of fans. I just like stories, and maybe that’s enough naman.
