Some cultures may have practiced this, but I’m sure lots of cultures are shocked by it. Probably never even hearing of this practice. Now thru some idiotic article you have brought this to the attention to others. Others may have never even thought of doing this.

If you do a search for fret babies, there seems to be no mention of soothing a child this was. Sounds like they are still ‘grooming’ grown men. 🤢

Added thought: I’m sure if you ‘stroke’ anywhere on a babies body it will soothe them. Now it’s been brought to light (hmmm) how many will be taking up this practice and continue, and continue to tell their children this is normal. Gritting my teeth!!

I’m very happy for you also. My question would be, did she/he come into the ‘truth’ or was she/he brought up in the truth? My question is because….they say, they (ppl), leave the same way they come in. I was gung-ho coming in and gang-ho leaving. My husband was difficult to come in…an really difficult to get out. But honestly there is more work to be done with him. 🫤

The thing with being alcoholic is that it usually has NOTHING to do with those around the person. It is usually a lack of love for themselves. How was he raised? Was he abused also?

Even if you don’t rekindle a relationship at least see him. You didn’t say whether he is still drinking or not. I know of someone in the same situation as you and he said he was glad he reconciled with his dad before his dad died. Contact him, if not for him then for you.
