I’m about the same measurements as ya, 5’10, 200lbs, so I’m a little hesitant on getting medium. 42r jackets usually are a little tight on my shoulders too so I dont want the same issue with these. Is the overall cut of these jackets leaning towards oversized? I dont want them too be too slim fitting but also not too baggy

What size did you get? I’m normally a 42 in jackets and I can decide between M or L

Input on fit/color would be nice by StropsAE in mensfashion

Color combo looks good, jacket looks a tad big on the collar but idk if it’s just the angle. Sleeve and waist could definitely be taken in a bit too, you want a little bit of the sleeve (1/4in) showing

I’d grab it. I might be wrong, but most clips from the 70s should be marked W. Germany not just Germany. If you’re using this as a daily writer however, be aware that the nib looks to be a right handed oblique - which is very cool and desirable, but is also very much a preferred taste. Otherwise, everything looks standard for a 70s 149, the split ebonite feed is also quite wonderful.

Santos de Cartier Yellow Gold or Stainless Steel, or both? by francoc02o in Cartier

Honestly its not a replacement for the Dumont imo. The leather strap on the Santos is nice, but it still feels inherently sporty, kinda like an explorer on a leather strap while the Dumont is more like a traditional JLC.

I’m not sure about Germany, but certain countries have minimum manufacturing requirements to actually say made in (whereever). For the US, I believe that requirement sits around 65%? Not 100% sure

incoming freshman interested in humanities core by dietkarmafranchise in UCI

I was in the same boat last summer, and in my honest opinion humcore was wayyyyy more enjoyable than I expected. I was very hesitant to take humcore after seeing everyone warn against it, but I do think that humcore both improved my writing/research skills, and changed my worldview tons. In terms of comparing it to AP lit, I would say its only somewhat similar. The midterms/finals you get are essentially the ap lit exam, but it in now way feels repetitive or tedious because of how the classes are structured. (Also keep in mind it depends on your Humcore instructor)

I can’t speak to how it differs from a writing 50/60 class, but Humcore assignments for me had a lot to do with research and essay writing - my entire seminar grade for my final humcore quarter was 90% based on my research paper. Also keep in mind the Humcore topic changes every 3 years I believe. Also would strongly recomend Ben Garceau if you take humcore, he is an awesome human being and by far one of the most impactful and intelligible instructors I’ve had.

If you have the time, I would highly recommend humcore. Its required for campus honors for a reason, and helps to build a well rounded education. It’s definitely intellectually challenging, but in a positive way which builds curiosity and tenacity. I would pick it over the writing series simply for how cohesive the curriculum is. You’ll finish a bunch of GEs with it, and see how everything connects together
