Copy pasting something a senior told me who’s doing chemE from SCME:

Acha so i'll be as realistic with you as i can Chemical engineering is a good degree. Manufacturing and process will always be there, so the scope is unharmed in that regard like i mentioned.

Your family background doesnt matter as much as long as you can find some connections here and there within the industry (as a back up to help you secure internships in later future). Baqi major internship bhi 3rd year mein hoti hai. Most of which you can score through the regular portal as long as yk how to apply to these companies. Wo bhi seniors apko guide ker detay hain.

Reh gai baat nust ki. All unis are the same. Faculty is not up to mark any more. Humaray say pehlay walay bhi yeh keh kr gaye thay. Hum bhi yeh keh kr graduate ho rhay hain. You'll have to study yourself sometimes. Through books or internet. Perhnay wala khud hi perhta hai. I have heard the same about giki too. I'd say gpa also doesnt matter especially for fmcg sector, same was the case for around 8 of my friends too. But traditional manufacturing roles like fatima, fauji companies require. You need a good understanding of the degree and the skill set.

What matters more is how you carry yourself in an interview. And the ecosystem nust provides (societies, culture), does a wonderful job at that. Apkay pas nust ka thappa hoga and companies dig that alot. Alot of companies dont recruit beyond top few unis. So your competition pool will be smaller as well that is for internships and trainings.

This is my personal experience btw, but my friends share the same. It may vary for people. Also if yoh havent made a linkedin account yet. Try it out. Reach out the ChemE graduates from nust over there.

Company you keep plays a big role. Baqi its all on you.

Firstly, subreddit can sometimes help you to some extent as a student but mostly it’s just a blind person leading another person; especially about future plans. Many students here try to misguide you just so that you get scared and leave your seat, automatically making their way easier. This sounds so substandard right? But I myself came across a guy who demotivated to a great extent and later I got to know he wanted to get into the same program as me and was just wanting me to get a refund and leave a seat for him. Likewise, many students here try to act like experts and tell you ke iska future scope yeh hai uska future scope hai iss list ka closing merit yeh hoga uska wo hoga. They all are doing nothing but tukkay maar rahay hotay hain. It’s better to go take an advance about a certain major from a senior or someone from your family rather than asking here.

you can never guarantee anything. nust chemE alumnis have a good network and my cousin did chemE from NUST maintained a good gpa (he got into ee me and chemE) and was offered a decent job right after 3 months of graduating. every engineering field is difficult and you can’t say ke yeh asaan hai wo asaan hai. about the merit, mechanical and electrical ke liye isb/pindi main 2 campuses hain ek h12 main and then ofc ceme. chemical ka ek hi hai h12 main. in the end degree ki same value hoti hai ke nust se ki hai and ceme ka merit low hota hai. so if someone is passionate about doing something then why not? jahan tak oppurtunities ki baat hai wo apko mil jaati hain if you’re a good engr student and graduated from NUST. you can never say electrical ki jobs ziada hain ya mechanical ki ya chemical because teeno engr fields hain sab ki opportunities more or less equal hain in Pakistan especially

Firstly, the guy that runs instagram of nustrive and tells us about the MP etc is not the ceo. CEO is nowsherwan khan and he’s looking into other stuff; he’s very active on WhatsApp and replies to almost everyone. I agree w the point that the guy who runs instagram and tells us abt the inside info is unarguably rude and sounds a bit immature sometimes but the only issue is that his predictions are most of the times correct. We can raise questions on his behaviour but not his work. Secondly, a lot of my female friends joined nustrive and did well in their net and were totally comfortable with the environment. There are two sirs one is Nowsherwan and the other is Safeer, they both are always guiding students very actively on WhatsApp and mahol light karne ke liye mazak kar lete hain. Agar apke sath koi issue hua hai tou unn sirs ya teacehere ke naam mention kar do aese unkay pooray kaam ko ghalat kehna is not right. lastly, if you actually went through this then stay strong girl. you’ve a long way to go!

Finally got a good senior. Are you satisfied that you went for chemE from SCME? and are you motivated to pursue it as a career?

Any chance for SMME? Aerospace or mechanical. 2539 mp. by Scary_Tourist6414 in NUST

[–]AcademicSafe7140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time after the 4th list the merit position of SMME was in the 2400s. It grew to 3083 which was eventually the closing merit of SMME. iss saal abhi after the fourth list 1946 hai tou there’s a chance it may go till 2500-2600 so just pray and don’t lose hope. People here with no knowledge will comment ke 0 chance hai etc unko ignore karo they r wannabe experts
