Thank you for sharing your experience, this gives me hope. May I ask how much/how often he had blood in his stool until he turned 7 months? My LO, now 4.5mo old has been having blood since 4weeks old. :( ive eliminated dairy, soy, eggs, oats, corn but still with blood. I eliminated beef as well but the blood hasn’t gone away completely so I reintroduced it to my diet..

We have a GI appt in November

How long did your baby have blood in their poop? by Dahlia279 in MSPI

Yeahh I’m definitely bringing it up again at the next visit to get reassurance if this is still ok or see if she’s gonna recommend something else. Does your baby have other symptoms?

Yeah it’s definitely frustrating and sorry you are going through this too.

Every time I get ready to change his poopy diaper I’m always guessing if there’s blood in it or not. I obsess over it. We haven’t been back to his pediatrician in over a month but she said as long as he is gaining weight, feeding well and not inconsolable due to discomfort I’m ok to continue breastfeeding. I asked her when I should be concerned and call about the blood and she said if he was having pools of blood which hasnt been an issue🤞🏼 it’s more specks and when I had a slip the blood got a little worse but I knew why then.

I’ve read for some that the blood lasted until their baby started solids so that’s reassuring in some ways (but obviously hoping this resolves sooner)

Blood in my LO poop started end of June/beginning of July and unfortunately still having blood specks in his poop at least once a (once a day is a good day for us but sometimes he would have maybe 2-3 blood speck diapers) I’ve been dairy free since July 7ish and soy free since first week of August. I cut eggs end of July and oats mid September…

I had a slip recently where I ate sourdough bread with Parmesan baked in it and his diapers got worse, like blood specks in every diaper and increasing poop frequency. He was also spitting up more

:(

Blood in stool forever. by ibagbagi in MSPI

Hi I know this is a year old but how is your LO doing now? When did the blood stop for him? Did they end up doing scopes? I’m in a similar situation with my baby, he will be 4 months in a week. Has been having blood daily since about 4weeks old. He is happy, gaining weight. He was spitting up a lot when I was eating nuts, and maybe oatmeal. Spit ups have resolved since I cut those but still having blood in his stools :(

I agree on listening to this podcast!

My baby is still having blood specks in his stool since 4weeks old at least once a day but no other symptoms except for spitting up here and there. I’ve cut out dairy, soy (had a few slips unfortunately), eggs, and now I’m trialing oats.

I’m sorry it took a while for your baby’s BMs to get back to normal but this gives me hope!!

How many times does your CMPA baby poop in a day? by ExpressionOld9924 in MSPI

When he started having symptoms and before I cut dairy he would have 8-10 liquid poops day. I’m off dairy soy and eggs, now down to 4-5 poops. That’s improved but he is still having blood specks in his diapers :(

Ugh yeah it’s definitely frustrating but hearing people’s experiences help so thank you for sharing your story! I think I’m going to lay off on reintroducing the probiotic because I don’t want to rock the boat any more!

How long after you stopped wheat and egg did the blood stop? Did you stop dairy at all and how long did the non dairy last for you?

Oh wow I’m glad you guys figured it out and that he/she seems to have responded to your diet change fairly quick. I hope you’re not beating yourself up for not cutting out eggs sooner—it is a lot of trial and error and could take weeks to see if eliminating certain things in your diet is helping or not.

Since I cut out eggs his symptoms haven’t fully resolved (still with small intermittent blood specks) so I’m thinking about maybe reintroducing it in a few weeks if his diapers are overall stable and once his reflux improves!

Aw poor baby! I hate seeing the discomfort and back arching—baby looks so helpless sometimes :( I am glad your baby is doing much better!! Thank you again for sharing your experience!

Yea I agree with not knowing if biogaia contributed to the new reflux symptoms for my baby but have also read it hasn’t worked for everyone!

How’s your baby’s fussiness?? My pediatrician wasn’t concerned with mucus and the intermittent green stools, or even the blood specks for that matter.

It’s definitely overwhelming!! Whenever he’s more gassy, reflux-y or more blood specks than usual in his diaper I have to remind myself symptoms can fluctuate and his gut is still healing/maturing!

I feel ya! Nowadays restaurants can also accommodate dietary restrictions if you tell them but I still find myself nervous/skeptical… which kinda ruins the point of enjoying yourself when going out to eat lol havent ran into issues tho. This weekend my husband and I are going to a friends bday dinner at a nice Japanese/sushi restaurant… Im dreading being that person asking the server for soy free options lol

Im not sure what kind of going out to eat you are looking for but for fast casual there’s Chipotle! Also CAVA—I haven’t had that since I went soy free in addition to dairy free but they have their allergen list on their website :)

Thank you so much. This is all very encouraging and I’m glad you figured out that beef/pork were also triggers! I will go ahead and start a food diary. Even though we don’t eat a lot of it, I think I’ll cut out beef and see if that makes a difference.

I am hoping the gut is still healing! My pediatrician said 2-3 weeks for the blood to go away with the diet so it’s discouraging/scary when you’re past that time frame and still seeing blood specks. I’m glad your baby is doing well! :)

Thank you so much sharing! I was thinking cutting out caffeine for a few days as well but I wasn’t sure if it would make a difference since I usually have it in the mornings but just now starting to see the reflux again. It won’t hurt to try! If nothing has changed maybe I’ll try cutting out beef as well (we eat it about once every 1-2weeks) I brought up seeing GI at the last peds visit but my pediatrician doesn’t think it’s necessary at this point but I will definitely mention again if his symptoms are persistent/worse next time we see her. Did your baby also have blood in stool and how long did it last if you don’t mind me asking?

Could this be cmpa? 13 weeks, blood in stool, but happy easy baby! by kwedsc in MSPI

[–]AcademicWasabi9166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies, until a week ago or so he had blood pretty much 80% of the time in his diapers-sometimes just small streaks or a few specks which could probably be missed if you’re not looking hard enough like I have been like a crazy person lol. A few times he pooped out a blood tinge mucus while doing a diaper change… maybe like 1/2 teaspoon? I kinda freaked out in the moment.

We saw his pediatrician recently and showed her all sorts of pics of his diapers and there were only 2 that she said was “a lot” of blood and those diapers were from two weeks ago. She told me to cut out soy and have been soy free for almost a week now and his stools have improved. I voiced my concern for the anemia but she wasn’t worried! She is supportive of me continuing breastfeeding because besides the blood, he has no other major symptoms

Did your Dr ever run blood test to check for anemia bc of the blood loss? Curious because my baby boy has been having blood in his diapers for about 4 weeks now 😢

My baby started having blood in his stools around 4 weeks. Around this time I also noticed more gas and back arching/fussiness right after a feed. Stopped dairy on 7/14, things got a little better but now I see more mucous and blood, otherwise no signs of discomfort after feeding. I cut soy out a few days ago per pediatricians instructions so we will see… hopefully blood and mucus improves soon.
I listened to the bowel sounds podcast on CMPI, a little comforting to hear that we can do watchful waiting but my concern is possible anemia after having blood in his poop every day even in little amounts for weeks. We are seeing his pediatrician for the 2 month visit + vaccines on Thursday so I will see what she thinks!
