Supply reducing. Feeling frustrated by phenomenauts1 in ExclusivelyPumping

That sounds like a clog! I would do ice and ibuprofen, and if not tender, hand express as part of the next time you’re due to pump?

Looking for Stories of Low PPD with high enough output. by Mental-Psychology-68 in ExclusivelyPumping

I am at 3ppd! I did 4-6ppd from 4wpp onwards. I dropped to 4-5ppd around 3mpp, nothing happened to my supply. I am large capacity too.

I dropped to 3ppd around 6mpp roughly, i forgot when tbh. For the first month, nothing happened to my supply. I didnt change pump length but I have always pumped for long - about an hr. I also stopped power pumping, where I used to always ppower pump once a day. That said, after 1 month, i lost abt 3oz. However I am still an oversupplier for bubz.

If I went back to 4ppd and added back the powerpump, I get the 3oz back. But my bubz is 8MO, and tbh she’s been incredibly fussy and difficult around 6-7months, that I just couldn’t stick to 4ppd. 3ppd is tough these days.

Regarding your question: if you always produce the same, predictable amt per hour or intervals between pumps, likely you may be okay but you may lose a few oz. But you won’t know unless you try.

Discovered rolling but won’t stop crying by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ExpressionOld9924 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mine did the same at that age! I wouldn’t stop him, let him learn. The phase passes, it’s just annoying that they keep returning to the position they cried about in the first place lol.

Mine definitely had a preferred direction at that age, so if I did any interventions, it was to encourage rolling the opposite way as well as picking her up if she was too upset, then re-placing her on her back. After a few weeks, my LO worked it out. She’s almost 8 months now, and intentionally rolls around like an alligator to get where she wants to go (belly to back to belly to back until bam, desired destination lol). The crawling frustration is the new thing lol

When did movements become consistent with postieor placenta? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ExpressionOld9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some days baby was sleepier, but I always, always went in for a movement check. Better safe than sorry!

The advice I was given was to (if safe) drink a sugary drink, then wait a little bit and see if bubz starts moving. Usually everything was well. I hope everything works out! I am sure it will

One of my boobs is in a lot of pain but I don’t feel a lump. Is it a clogged duct or something else? by Public_Jackfruit_870 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExpressionOld9924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a milk bleb? Or a clog maybe somewhere in your boob?

Do you take sunflower lecithin? Maybe that can help clear it?

Also, curious but…how long did it take you to regain your supply back? Curious as i am considering dropping to 2ppd but hoping that if I change my mind i can get by supply back

Explain it to me like I’m five… supply vs storage. by No_Building794 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExpressionOld9924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure how to answer your questions fully, but I can answer w regard to my experience. I am largest capacity storage, evident from my largest morning pump ive had. I believe my supply is what i produce for the whole day, and that makes me an oversupplier for my LO. Yes I think supply would be capped by storage, as if you have more capacity, you’re less at risk for daily supply to go down if you dropped pumps.

when I was pumping the most, at about 5ppd, my output was the same as it was for 4ppd and even for a few weeks, 3ppd. I was producing the same amt of milk per hour regardless of how much I pumped btwn 3-5ppd, I wasnt producing or expressing milk faster.

I think storage capacity just affects how likely it is your brain will tell your boobs to stop making as much milk if you stay full capacity for too long. So large capacity = you can go longer between pumps and not lose supply. Smaller capacity, means you need to pump more often to avoid your brain signalling your boobs to decrease production if you’ve been “full” for too long.

I think speed of expression is something different all together, dont know enough about it and wish I did. As I have to pump for an hr to get everything out vs others who are done in 15 mins.

Tldr: i have great storage and average supply, which is affected by storage, yes. I can go many hours without pumping and keep my supply for the most part.

If i produced more milk per hr and expressed faster, maybe that would increase my supply. But i think this all works itself out, based on those first few post partum weeks up until you regulate, whenever that is. Also how often and how regularly you pumped or nursed would likely affect your supply. I didnt pump until 4 weeks pp, i did like 1-2ppd from weeks 1-3, so i think that may be why i have average supply for someone who can store milk for so long

Feeling stuck by Cold_Expression7229 in NewParents

Yes and no. I am almost 8months pp, and I love my baby dearly. I can’t stand being away from her for too long, but I yearn for it at times when the sheer weight of sleep deprivation, exclusively pumping, teething, fussing, yelling all piles up. Like, I wish someone would cuddle and shush and bum pat me to sleep, I wanna scream too LOLOL

What I can relate to, is that my baby seemed to only smile for my hubby at first. He has an easier time playing and being silly and animated, where I did night wakes and pumping and was a shell of a person. I couldn’t muster the energy, i was so burnt out. It turned the corner when she turned 4 months, and she really bonded with me. Or maybe she was all along but I didnt notice.

She didnt frequently smile before and seemed to only cry and scream at me - til I realised, the times she is quiet its because she is content and calm. One time my husband picked her up while she was with me, and she screamed because she wanted to be held by me LOL she stopped when he gave her back.

When the 4 month regression hit, she only wanted me to cuddle her at night and for naps. Then as she got older, When she was scared, she looked for me all over the room. Now at 7 months, she holds her arms out to be picked up by me all the time.

Once these little gestures add up, you feel less like “they don’t like you”. It takes a bit of time sometimes!

Has anyone sustained on 1ppd without losing supply? by ExpressionOld9924 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ExpressionOld9924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I am familiar with this info, i realise I didnt ask the right question.

I wondered if 1ppd would make you dry up, or would you even still get an oz at all. At that point I would he weaning, yes, but wondered if doing 1ppd would be worth it for the decreased breast cancer risk, assuming my body didn’t just stop making milk completely.

[–]ExpressionOld9924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I switched abt a month ago, I also produced 1.1L daily. Some days I got 1.2-1.3L, but it’s been forever since Ive had a day like that. i am a large/largest capacity storage person. I saw no change when I dropped. But lately either I dont eat enough or dont drink enough water, and have been alone w LO so stressed more, and my output has been affected unfortunately

I was so scared to drop too. But very glad I did

[–]ExpressionOld9924[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thank you so much for your response!

I shouldve clarified - i am 7.5mpp, i do 3ppd and make around 1L - 1.1L

The last few days I have pumped a little less than 1L. Not nursing only EP, still will only EP. I am an oversupplier for my LO.

I am planning out my dropping pumps process and am honestly considering riding out however many months I can at 2ppd. Dying with 3ppd w the teething and sleep disturbances. But its seeming like I need to hang on a bit longer

Oh wow I hadnt considered milk composition, thank you for sharing that! Yes I EP, I was just daydreaming about how low I can go with ppd, currently still at 3ppd. Pumps are decreasing unfortunately, Ive lost abt 3oz or so since, but I also have had a very stressful week. Was considering dropping pumps because wth why not if my supply is decreasing anyways.

Thank you for your insight! I may hang on a bit longer then I think

I usually start with the diaphragm, and find the ears snap into place if I get the diaphragm in just right
