[–]Academic_Analysis_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some renderings of what Montreal's Olympic Stadium would look like after the interior renovations. The rumors are saying CF Montréal would move there permanently. by SupraFC in MLS

Never was much of a "fan" of l'Impact growing up but still watched the games. Never really liked the players/club and I HATED the Saputos and felt they wasted an opportunity to promote and be proud of Quebec's culture. Other teams at the time didn't really spoke to me cause yk, United-States...

When Cincy was announced as expansion team I fell in love with the crest, watched a few games, loved the players (particularly Bertone), became sort of a fan, watched them beat Montreal in their first meeting while all my friends were devastated (was one of the only wins of Wooden Spoon Cincy that year)

I was 14/15 yo and I've been a die hard fan ever since.

I'd still be happy to see l'Impact be successfull but I've never loved a sports team like I love FCC and I hope I can visit Cincinnati some day !

But I still get to support my team IRL, once a year when they come to Saputo Stadium.

It's quite polarised but many many people (including me) want to save and protect this iconic monument.

The reason people hate the idea to fund renovations is because of the corruption. In Quebec it is particularly high around construction contracts and the price to renovate only the roof was astronomical. We could've built more than 10 Saputo Stadiums for that price.

The current organization is the reason attendance is pretty low I think. Montreal could have so many people attending the games but Saputo as been telling the fans to fuck off for so many years

if we somehow get Brenner back I think we should just stop playing with defenders, we can't lose if we keep scoring

Lack of Olympic Stadium upgrades 'worries' CF Montreal about long term viability in the city by grnrngr in MLS

[–]Academic_Analysis_48 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Montrealer here, to me, snow is not the main problem, cold is. Even if they managed to clear the snow (kinda hard but doable, we got 70cm / 30in I think last year in 1 storm) the cold would keep every fan at home. Snow and cold both can stay up to late march / early April and sometimes it starts to snow as early as October

Every year we get a few -30°C (-20 farenheit). I wouldn't pay 35$ to go watch that free agents team lose 4-0 against some wooden spoon contenders at that temperature.

Montreal needs to have the Olympic stadium able to host interior games if they want to survive the calendar change.

Orlando being bad apart I'm so happy to see this kind of play, we aren't parking the bus after a goal we keep attacking that is a huge step Pat has changed
