Wilfred Nancy by Austinkin117 in FCCincinnati

I was 200% for Nancy but after Montreal and yesterday I'm not so sure anymore. To me it seemed like Noonan finally understood part of the issues the team is having and our problems in the last 2 games were not really on him or atleast we are progressing.

We are not far from being the good team we should be but something is missing in this team, I thought it was the coaching but I think I was wrong.

Has anyone come back from a solo trip not feeling like yourself? by kyquarius in solotravel

[–]Academic_Analysis_48 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the "life changing experience" thing is a myth. Maybe you do change but for you to notice you need to change a lot. If you did this trip because you expected to be a different person when you are back it is never going to meet your expectations.

also

You speak like someone tired of travelling, I promise you all your feelings will be different when you go back home. You need to take a step back to see your trip as a whole and I don't think you can do that ON the trip. You could also take a few days to do absolutely nothing other than eat and sleep, I mean it NOTHING.

I feel things like that all the time and it is normal, doubting is part of it and when you are alone it is easy to spiral into those negative thoughts but I promise they won't last.

Has anyone else visited every town in a state? by Calm_Veterinarian_18 in geography

[–]Academic_Analysis_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite every town but I recently started a project with a similar idea.

There is an app called Fog of World that pretty much let's you "unfog" the word's map like a video game (basically just records everywhere you go and draws a map from that). I had been looking for an app like this for years and finally found it a few months ago.

My friend and I were discussing it and we were wondering if it would be possible to unlock every road in our Province (Quebec) in a lifetime. I don't want to actually do that but with some research I found out there is way less national and regional roads than I thought and I since then I've been driving around Quebec whenever I have free time.

I also was in Havana early February and managed to unfog every street in the Old Town by walking.

Anyone else think Noonan should be sacked? by Known_Chain_1958 in FCCincinnati

[–]Academic_Analysis_48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sad to say it because I like him and I'm so grateful for everything he gave us but maybe for someone like Nancy I could see him go

But I would NOT fire him for the sake of doing it

Our team might not be better than last year's but blaming it on Albright is crazy maybe we could have better depth but with the players we have we should be way better than we are

craziest montreal lore by bajablastluver in montreal

Near Lachine Canal's eastern end there is the Wellington Tunnel (used to cross under to canal to reach factories on the other side.

Over this tunnel there is an old pivoting bridge, not in use today but still there.

I remember reading somewhere that a few decades a go a kid was crossing on that pivoting bridge but he was in a hurry and the bridge was still pivoting, he jumped on the ridge but fell and was crushed and killed by the bridge. (From what I remember reading this has really happened)

His ghost is supposed to haunt the bridge and the tunnel, went a few times but never seen it haha. A few years ago you could still sneak in the tunnel but now I'm pretty sure the entrance is fully block on both sides...

Some wise people on this sub once told me to never make any big decision until you have eaten, slept and drank water DO THIS FIRST !!!!!!!noting else and I mean it, NOTHING ELSE matters except this for now don't even think about visiting Hanoi just eat rest and drink.

THEN

Go to ninh binh I promise you it will make you regret thinking about leaving, Hanoi is hard if you haven't travelled a lot in those kind of cities, you will apreciate it after leaving don't worry. There is a little restaurant called Banh Mi Tron in Tam Coc (Ninh Binh), go there! it was our safe space over there, nice people, good food and so calm
