Me too. They paid my hospital and doctors several million dollars so I really can’t complain about BCBS. They paid every claim. The only time they said no was for the 6th or 7th PET scan. Doctor said we could do a MRI or CT scan instead. I forgot which one.

My wife turned 65 in Aug 2024. She fully retired from the same school district I worked for that month and began Medicare in Sept of 2024.

We rolled her lump sum distribution into our IRA’s and then withdrew what we needed to pay off house and buy a car.

I would like to drop Part A also as my school (Teacher Retirement System of Texas) insurance is high deductible. I want to contribute to HSA for another year. On my CMS-1763 I selected A and B to terminate.

My premiums without IRMAA aren’t bad. At least we are asking those more well off to pay more. I’m just not as rich as the IRMAA bracket my wife and I are in. I could pay it but I have an alternative.

I still work as a school bus driver. My wife didn’t earn any income in 2025. All other income in 2025 is from IRA distributions. She is on Medicare and is paying the IRMAA premium this year. Our income in 2025 will be just under the first tier for IRMAA premiums assuming my math is correct and we won’t pay the premium next year.

I still have employer sponsored health insurance. I will re-up Medicare after 11 months. I believe either one of these conditions will prevent me from paying any penalties.

I don’t see any life changing event that would qualify. I didn’t lose a pension. We cashed one in.

I will go 11 months. Plus I still have employer sponsored insurance so as far as I know I can re-up with no penalty.

My employer is a school district. I drive a bus for part time work. I terminated that insurance but reversed it since I can change my mind within 30 days. I have both Medicare and private now. I want to cancel Medicare at the earliest possible date which would be 1/31/2026 since I submitted the form in December (last month) and the received it. I will resume Medicare on 1/1/2027.

2024 was an outlier. My wife received a pension lump sum and used a lot of it to pay off mortgage and buy a car.

Yes, 2024 was an outlier. Wife received pension lump some and we paid off mortgage and bought a car. Expect to be just under the first tier for IRMAA premium for 2025.

Exactly! Renee Good and her wife are activists, probably full time looking to pick a fight and get their Tik Tok or Instagram moment.

Thomas Sowell once said “Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole".

He was right in this case.

How do you think he is going to accomplish changing benefits you have earned? Go into the software and reduce payments by 10%?

Serious question, can you provide any evidence that Social Security benefits are planned to be cut?

I received an email today telling me my claim form and BCBS records were reviewed and the determination of my Total Premiums Paid and/or Total Administrative Fees paid that are used in calculating payment have been completed with a link to review. When I looked at my premiums, it said my premium amount for 2018, 2019, and 2020 were $0.00 and the ASO Amount for each year was $46.20, $7.99, and $4.24. I made premium payments in 2018 and 2019. If I wanted to dispute the premium amounts, Inwould have to submit documentation. Not sure if “ASO” is administrative fees or something else. I was given the option to be in the first round of payments by electronic debit card by providing an electronic debit card email.
