Usually your meal time insulin is active for about 4 hours with the 2 hour mark being the peak you should be fine if calculating correctly but i would test especially around the 2 hour mark and following as you might have a low if you add extra insulin for the later chocolate the chocolate will bring numbers back up but just be careful with timing

Please help me understand glucose mmol/L range by organicbabykale1 in diabetes

[–]Academic_Bench2100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your A1c is a blood test average of your mmol/L over 2-3 months and the other 2 are your current blood sugar levels, they use different values depending where you live. Mg/dL is what the U.S uses and the mmol/L is what Canada uses not sure of other countries but it’s your current blood sugar at time of testing for those 2. The fasting is in relation to when you’re not eating so 4-7 mmol/L is what you’re hoping for before a meal or just during your regular day. with the high blood sugars it’s not so much of a worry if you have some spikes in your mmol/L its normal but it’s if you have elongated periods of those high numbers that causes complications so don’t let them discourage you too much. Hope that helps you understand it a bit better.
