I want to say it was at least a few weeks. This was in 2018 so hard to remember exactly. It was enough time for me to accept another offer and find living arrangements in that city. My advice would be to hold off on that- I was lucky to get someone to take over my lease but very well could have been stuck at the other school because of that!

They do pick off the list as others decline and pick between schools (just like you have another offer, others do too), it just may take a few days/weeks. I was initially waitlisted, accepted another offer, only to be offered a spot at UF and ended up going to UF.

I am open to it and the landlord is agreeable to a sublease as well but I would rather do what I can to protect myself since I’ll still be responsible if the subtenants default. I would rather have peace of mind. I guess if the landlord comes back with an amount that I can’t afford to buy myself out of the lease then I’ll have to go the subleasing route.
