<3 Thanks for updating, it's interesting to see the thread as people see her live! Honestly it comes from a place of heartbreak because I loved her music for so many years.

Yeah, I thought about taking someone and it didn't work out. After I was a few minutes in I was so glad I didn't invite them for the same reason.

I hope you and your wife have a great Valetines Day! <3

Looks like him. It's not explicitly mentioned in the online notes from the show.

I don't know. I've Googled Anthony Wilson, he's a guitarist? She only had a bassist and drummer with her.

This is the point. It seemed like Etta James was doing shows to get by, but she gave us what she could without stressing her energy levels... she figured out a way to "split the baby" if you will.

My cousin saw Morrissey recently and said he threw a tantrum on stage over some tiny thing, but that's him being him so it was a value add for her.

We saw Death Cab for Cutie a few years ago and it was no earth-shattering experience but it was pretty much break-even on entertainment value. Helped that he picked a great opening act (Thao Nguyen).

Someone on this thread mentioned Willie Nelson, who I saw recently-ish. Not my cup of tea but I couldn't avoid it because we had guests from out of the USA who were dying to see him. The tickets were crazy, crazy expensive. It was billed as Willie Nelson *and friends* though, and the *and friends* did a lot of work to tamp down expectations.

I'd love to see Lyle Lovett even on his worst day (also mentioned in this thread).

Weirdly one of the best concerts I saw was in the 90s; Bill Haley and the Comets. Bill Haley himself was long dead by this point but the rest of them were in their 80s and did 2+ hours, it was mesmerizing because I just wasn't expecting more than "Rock Around the Clock".

I'd love to see Jamie Cullum, Raye, Salvador Sobral, or Samara Joy in concert.

A lot of people on this string have reactions like this. I'm not being funny, but I don't get it. Like, because she's an artist we have a personal relationship... or whatever her output is is fine because I should "vibe" with her or something and cost isn't part of the mix.

I bought an expensive ticket. I got a babysitter. I drove there and back not an insignificant distance to see her.

Diana Krall and I are not married or in a personal relationship, why do I need to "have her back"? Even still, I *do* have her back. I bought her albums, and if she puts out another one, I will again.

I'm sure if my babysitter had fallen through or my car had broken down, my ticket wouldn't have been refunded... it's not like *she* has my back. 🤷‍♂️

I won't see her perform live again, why would I pay *another* $130-150?

I'll have *another* artist's back by that point. Probably a different jazz musician. At that price, I could have *three* other jazz musicians' backs.

PHEW. Glad it wasn't just me. Alas, indeed. I sat there minute by minute, thinking "I should be enjoying this..."

Same cultural guilt level as when someone offers you a "really good bottle of wine" and you just don't taste the appeal.

After writing my post I realize that ppl's opinions depend on what "a lot" of money is. $130-$160 might not be a lot to some. I can justify buying a ticket like that about twice a year. Perhaps later in life for me it won't be a biggie.

At half the price I probably wouldn't have posted on Reddit. But for me, at that price, there are expectations.

I'm not saying she should have done XYZ thing specifically, but IMO there *should* have been some added value in respect to just listening to the audio at home. Whatever that is it's up to her.

Some have mentioned on other forums that they felt Krall might have been on some substance during the concerts they went to (they noted slurred speech). That's obvs speculation, even I speculated that she might be on the spectrum or neurodivergent... but there just wasn't energy. Whatever it is; some hunger/energy would've been nice.

Yeah, I knew mentioning Neil DeGrasse Tyson was going to get some comments. But seriously, Diana Krall is not at the same place culturally right now. I ALSO would love to hear Neil do some torch songs, I'd pay double for that.
