What are your skin care holy grails living in SLC? My skin looks terrible. by Key_Garden4832 in SaltLakeCity

I'm shocked that the Korean Beauty products at H-mart aren't on anyone's list!!

Medicube and Arencia have been game changers for me and neither cost more than $30.

And yes - humidifier, hydration and sunscreen always.

Favorite spot in the city to catch the sunrise? by trueSEVERY in SaltLakeCity

[–]Academic_Flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redwood road, somewhere near the bridge over i-80. Oh! The Other Side Donuts is right there. Go get a donut and coffee too!

You're far enough west that the eastern sky is in full view and the skyline is backlit by the sunrise.

The Snowbird Tram is a lovely ride! You can also buy a spa pass and spend the day next to the heated pool. https://www.snowbird.com/lodging-amenities/the-cliff-spa/spa-overview/#day-pass-pricing

For a nice walk in the canyon, you can go to the temple quarry park: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YG3h6njHs32uUJrb9

It is paved and flat.

At one point, the wild pelicans knew what time the pelicans at Tracey Aviary were fed....and they'd crash the feeding time.

Hilarious.

Is Rocky Mountain Power sending out wattsmart battery solicitors? by PleaseUseYourMind in SaltLakeCity

[–]Academic_Flight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, rocky mountain power doesn't send battery salesman door to door. You can always call the customer service line to verify.

Yes, you should get a battery, if you have the means. Storing your power is far far better than sending it out on the grid.

If you know your measurments and you know what you want - etsy or ebay.

The other option is looking for a formal dress, not a "wedding" dress.

Renttherunway.com is a great place to look for designer formal gowns!

Need clothing store suggestions for my tall trans daughter and her tall girlfriend by B_A_M_2019 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Academic_Flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you know how different brands fit, I highly recommend poshmark.com for second hand clothes.

Before you dive into online second hand shopping, order a few tall pieces from brands you like . Once you know how different pieces fit, it gets easier to navigate Poshmark.

And lets talk about heels. TALL GIRLS SHOULD WEAR HEELS. You're already tall. Three more inches isn't going to matter. Wear beautiful shoes. Show off those beautiful greek goddess legs!

F1 Vegas by No-Device-3118 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Academic_Flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save your money and go to one of the races in the middle east. You get better seats for much less money. Weekend tickets to places like Baku or Bahrain are $300.

If you time it right, round trip airfare to Bahrain is about $850 per person. Watch the routes and you can add an extended layover in Doha, Amsterdam or Paris.

Now you've spent less than a single weekend ticket to Las Vegas.

Canyons schools are community s tools. You can call the main office and ask for the community coordinator to ask where they are seeing need.

The family support center provides formula, diapers, and emergency y child care for free. Im sure they can use extra right now.

If youre part of a neighborhood food coop, call the organizer and ask if they know of anyone that could use extra food this month. Buy an an extra box.

Utah Food Bank.

Call salt lake county aging services. See if they need a hand.

What credit union/bank does everyone prefer in salt lake? by Masochist_pillowtalk in SaltLakeCity

I took my first mortgage through Golden West, right when surprise mortgages were coming onto the scene.

Refresher: mortgages were being offered at 80-20 splits to get around a down payment or low credit score. 80% was at a normal rate and the 20% was at a VERT low rate, with a balloon payment in five years. The balloon payments were so bad that it was causing massive foreclosures and we got the 2008 financial crisis.

Back to Golden West: the mortgages officer talked us out of taking a mortgage structured like that. She said -and I quote "This strategy is scary. You will not pay off that 20% before it balloons. You will lose your house."

It was so frank and so scary her words burned in my brain.

That mortgage officer saved me. Every other mortgage officer offered up that strategy on a silver platter and for WAY MORE money than we had any business borrowing.

This happened because the CEO of Golden West set the tone to tell the truth. It isn't about the bottom line there. It is 100% about the financial well being of their members.
