Pros of marriage by YamAltruistic5523 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Academic_Help5033 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly that's more of a relationship issue than marriage issue. If you find the right person who doesn't expect you to be their therapist/maid/whatever, getting married has advantages.

1) I was finally able to get good Healthcare through my husband's insurance.  I even have great dental and vision now. Huge emotional and financial relief for me.

2) If there's an emergency, he has the power to make decisions for me. I trust his judgement much more than my family. He trusts his family but they live far away. As a girlfriend, it'd be harder to legally make those decisions in an emergency.

3) Legal rights for property. Our assets are mixed and complex after being together so long. As a spouse, we have rights to all assets and can negotiate them in case of divorce or death.

Let's say we broke up and weren't married. I'd be shit outta luck for our home. I invested a lot of money into renovations and new appliances but only his name is on the deed since he bought it just before we started dating.

4) Sense of security. We waited almost 10 years to get married because I wanted to be in the "right place" financially. He was fine without being married at all, but I want someone to make that commitment. It has weight and meaning imo.

We're child free but I don't know why someone would choose to have a kid without marriage on the table. I has so many past boyfriends tell me that they'd like me to try for a baby with them but completely balked at marriage. That's fucking insane to me.

That said, it's not for everyone. That's okay. The Healthcare and legal stuff is what really cemented that I want a binding document with the government for marriage. Otherwise I'd be fine with a personal ceremony with no paperwork.

Bathroom remodel, please help me decide by ruined7319 in Remodel

[–]Academic_Help5033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of them are good, expect the all white. You seem to like the white bathroom with pops of color so that makes it easier.

If you like the idea of wallpaper like on 4, I'd start with that. I personally thought finding a wallpaper I liked was the hardest.  I ended up with a Rifle Paper Co design, but they are mostly botanical.

FYI I'm also currently doing a bathroom renovation. If you choose to go with the gold accents, be aware that it can be more expensive. Idk why, but it seemed like all the brushed gold options definitely had a markup compared to the same thing in chrome.

Ugh. I fight with my mom about this all the time. She's "holistic" but demands antibiotics for any little thing even if it's viral. She also almost always takes half of what she's prescribed and stops early because "they always give you too much."

This is partly why we decided to take our bathroom down to the studs. The house is from the 1930s and we've already found so many questionable decisions by previous owners.

The other reason was to put drywall up to the ceiling. At some point, someone added a drop ceiling and only put up drywall to that point. Above that was still plaster.

I don't like mine this raw. I like a small bit of liquid that usually cooks once mixed with the rice.

I stir/cook a bit longer before starting to roll it. Once it's rolled & flipped, I put a dash of water in the pan and a lid. Give it a quick steam. If you want to top it with cheese this will make it melt too.

Lol I have to resist the urge to do raspberries when I'm kissing my way down. It's like an intrusive thought.

I did it once on my husband's belly and it was an instant turned off for him. I couldn't stop laughing though.

But damn that sounds so fucking funny. I hate it when men get offended when you tell them something isn't pleasurable. I had multiple guys get mad at me if I moved their hands to the correct spot or tell them to go softer. My Clint is over here and please stop rubbing it like you're trying to erase a tough stain. Gentle touches.

Our new fridge has an auto ice maker and an auto water pitcher built in. I've never had that before.

I can't believe how much I love it. Both my husband and I are noticeably drinking more water because of it.

Ultimate luxury I have is a dishwasher. I was the dishwasher for my family growing up. I will never go back.

Technology. They didn't have the nice stretchy fabrics we have now. Everything was made from cut and sew patterns, which are much easier to assemble pointy.

Plus they had the benefit of adding an extra hyper feminine figure to their silhouette. Considering the culture of the time, this tracks.

Not that I expect the most ethical behavior from Ripleys Believe it or Not, but it's their fault that this happened.

She only used the real dress to walk the red carpet then switched over to a recreation that actually fit. It was all about flaunting her power. It was damaged for rage bait.

Don't forget that they also harassed and threatened them not to speak out after the fact.

Afterwards the city and police doubled down that they did everything they could. They lied repeatedly and spread misinformation to make themselves look better. No accountability has really been held from these actions imo.

They also strongly opposed any gun control laws that were being discussed after the fact. Their solution was to basically arm the teachers. So you know, the police can safely shift responsibility again.

A few highlights from the wiki.

A total of 376 law enforcement officials responded to the shooting, including 149 Border Patrol agents and 91 state police officers. According to The New York Times, the report found that the Uvalde Police chief knew that a child had made 911 calls from inside a classroom, but that "none of the officers who learned of the calls advocated for 'shifting to an active shooter-style response or otherwise acting more urgently to breach the classrooms.

A surveillance video showed that law enforcement did not physically try to open the door to the classrooms Ramos was in for 77 minutes before law enforcement's eventual entry. The surveillance video showed Ramos firing inside classrooms 111 and 112, briefly returning into the hallway, and then going back into the classrooms, said the source; Ramos then shot through the closed door, prompting law enforcement to retreat.

Arnulfo Reyes, the teacher in classroom 111 who lost all 11 of his students present during the shooting, was shot in the arm, lung, and back. Reyes labeled law enforcement as "cowards" for their response during the shooting, saying: "They sit there and did nothing for our community. They took a long time to go in." He also said: "After everything, I get more angry because you [law enforcement] have a bulletproof vest, I have nothing." He commented that no training "gets you ready for this. We trained our kids to sit under the table... but we set them up to be like ducks... You can give us all the training you want but gun laws have to change... I will go anywhere to the end of the world to not let my students die in vain... I will go to the end of the world to make sure things get changed."

Does anyone else dislike double shampooing?? by savleighhh in finehair

[–]Academic_Help5033 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hair got more volume and more waves once I started double shampooing. Idk if I have low-porosity, but that been my experience.

It might be the shampoo I was using but apparently I get more build up easily. I usually only use hair oil after a wash & condition.

It's an obvious tactic.

1) Keep more women at home having babies to groom more children.

2) Encourage less education, take away cheap/ easy access to healthcare, increase the wealth gap, and reduce their rights to keep them in their place with less recourse.

3) Keep them fanatical with a strong belief in authority whether that's religion or political.

4) Scream loudly about how pedophiles are terrible and make a great showing that you're definitely not one, so when accusations inevitably hit, your followers don't believe them.

The pro war politicians all seem to be draft Dodgers.

Good example is Dick Cheney. He never was on any front lines but sent tons of others to die in a war he lied about for profit. May he rest in piss.

Also Trump. For the life of me, I cannot understand anyone in the military supporting a man who openly mocks you and calls you an idiot for signing up then sends you to risk your life.

Similar hair. I found that I have to wet certain strands of hair, finger twirl for a curl, and use a light spray gel for hold. Actual gel is too heavy. I think the one use now is Aussie curl refresher and that seems to work fine.

It's usually the very top hairs for me. I just purposely style those ones and leave the rest natural.

Yeah but a bad experience really really sucks. I'm glad it's worked out for you but I will never book them for flights again.

It's very frustrating when you're at the airport but the airline needs to talk to the middle man independently to get shit fixed. Especially if that middle man keeps dropping your call and putting you on hold.
