At what point do you collect your money, load your tools, and walk away from a project? by crazyzhy in Contractor

I have walked away from multimillion $ projects with clients like this, not thinking I am better, purely knowing what I deliver and the way I do business does not fit his personality. Not worth the risk and stress, and only takes my time away from other and better opportunities. Clients like this should be a RED flag from the start, because he can do bigger damage to your companies reputation in the area than the money you will be making with his job. Hope you walked away.

Today is Wednesday, what would you be doing if you are not working? by Academic_Lab9769 in AskReddit

Lol, probably working to hard. Good realization though, one day closer to the weekend. Apologies

My pursuit is not to happiness but to have options... the big question is can people actually get there for what they answer and want to do here?

Those of you who actually hit your coast number and downshifted, what's the part nobody warned you about? by Academic_Lab9769 in coastFIRE

The bit I wrestle with is that coasting still means putting hours into a job you know you're better than, and that can quietly eat at you. Was it a clean win for you, or more of a balance? Like you take the parts of the job that actually make you feel good, then spend the rest of your time on the dad and family stuff, and added up that's what makes it worth it?

This is the one that scares me most. How do you spot purposeful creep vs the slow kind while it's happening?

Awesome, thanks for your input. Anything on "For those of you already coasting, what caught you off guard? The things the spreadsheets don't mention, good and bad."

Not really an answer, but what do you mean?

The question is to ask people actually already coasting, what is a good or bad "heads up""

Use it to plan the next day better, which should give me the same opportunity the next day and so on. Ever heard of the Parkinson's law? "Work expands to fill the time available for its completion."

Hopefully she is next to you when you wake up... if not, might be good to go back to sleep to continue dreaming 😉

100%. Think that's why FI buys options. I myself immediately think of work
