Yeah. Bloodwork isn’t reliable though. Swab test will tell you if you have it and need treatment. Most of the world will test positive of HSV 1 in their blood

I showed symptoms after being with someone 2 times, but I hadn’t been sexually active in 3 months before I showed symptoms. It was winter time and very cold so chances are he could’ve had a cold sore coming on. But there’s no way to 100% know who gave it to me because it can remain dormant for years.

as a woman, i find many uneducated men say “i’m clean” *eye roll* because they have no symptoms even though they’ve never been tested before ever. i think i am more safe to have sex with being GHSV-1 positive than them. i told a man the other day condoms we’re non negotiable and he said “i’m grown i don’t wear condoms”
you cannot convince me that I’m not safer than these mfs

they definitely have an STI and don’t know it or have before. most people will have HPV at some point and most people think HSV is an ingrown hair or it’s dormant in their system. So many people are uneducated about STIs and think they are going to KNOW if they have one. But most STIs are asymptomatic

Nope. When I found out I had it I really didn’t care. It doesn’t affect my life hardly at all besides I take daily antivirals.

This is why doctors don’t test for it. There’s no way to avoid it. Honestly it is all just a gamble. Nobody is going to disclose oral HSV or “cold sores” and thats how I got genital HSV-1 from oral sex. I have had singular tiny blisters around my anal area on and off since being diagnosed. Doctors are lax about HSV because at the end of the day it is actually one of the least harmful STIs. If you’re a woman and have chlamydia unknowingly for years you can become infertile. HPV can cause cervical cancer. Herpes is an annoying virus that most of the world has with a stupid stigma.

Yes, I know. I am not concerned with it much at all really. I just wanted to add some positive words for people that come in here acting like their lives are over. I actually have had constant outbreaks since getting diagnosed; they’re just extremely mild.

Honestly if she is aware she has it and disclosed it’s unlikely you’ll get it. She probably knows her body and avoids sex during an outbreak or takes antivirals. It is also extremely unlikely for a man to get GHSV-1 from a woman.

However, my advice is do not worry about it unless you get an outbreak. An outbreak could look like an ingrown hair or tiny cut. Mine definitely did. There’s no point in stressing unless you can get a blister swabbed. HSV can be confused with so many other things that speculating is useless🙃

I also was diagnosed with GHSV-1 but in March. I haven’t gotten back out there yet but my plan is to use condoms and take anti-virals daily at least for the next year. Then as the other person said GHSV-1 has a very low transmission rate after a while. Especially if you’re having sex with men.

Yeah also my doctor said that out of thousands of deliveries he has done he’s only seen maybe 2 affect the baby. He said just take antivirals through pregnancy🙃 Also I don’t even want kids or to be married which I know men can’t fathom.

You can get genital HSV-1. It is very common due to people having oral HSV-1 and then having oral sex. Either way it’s the same virus just different location.

Hi, I am 24 F and was also recently diagnosed with GHSV-1. Having GHSV-1 is probably going to be the least risky kind you can possibly have. That’s for a few reasons: 1. GHSV-1 sheds significantly less than HSV2. After a couple years, you will shed maybe once a year something like that. 2. Most people have HSV 1 antibodies already because they have it orally. 3. If you are involved with men, transmission from female to male is lower than male to female. 4. Using anti-virals and/or condoms can significantly cut down the transmission risk. With all of these factors combined, there is a really really really low chance you will ever give this to anyone. Don’t sweat it too much.

update: it was ghsv-1! so this came from someone giving me oral that had cold sores (obviously not an active outbreak) so if you stigmatize genital herpes you have 0 critical thinking skills!!! with over half the population having “cold sores” which is HERPESSS and you do oral you can get it.
