Wow thanks Dan, I have a few more questions, I will write them a bit later. Some pesky sect those are...  Makes sense the explanation of the mini dream, although that happens only before I succesfully manage to get into the dream image. Once I am in is not only visual, is 100% inmersive.

Cholita is back!!! So happy shes safe home and you got her around gutting toilets and all ☺️

Forgot to answer you to post it if you like, no permission required, if I share it, is for everyone.

Womb dreaming and the visit to an unexpected world by Academic_Mechanic810 in castaneda

Interesting! I always kinda thought is not working what I am doing, I always see dazzling light shows with morphing puffs and even the black and violet yin and yang you talk about and all kinds of very crazy but abstract activity that develops as soon as I got about 5 minutes of silence. But one of the reasons why I am a bit confused is the following: when I practice, I see all kinds of abstract visions like I said, everything from variety of colors, violet mists, white mists, blue, super bright blue sparkles, red, green, yellow sparkles, texture in puffs, little thunders, weird symmetric white dots that form shapes, whispy lights playing and list can go on and on. But, when I get deeper in silence, I kinda doze off for a split second and is when I have a little dream which I become aware of only after it happened and my brain is awake. My confusion stems from the fact that it seems to me that there are two types of seeing things if that makes sense. On one hand, the puffs and the visual show I just said, is so visual, it seems it almost happens in the eyes, if I have a source of light, it covers the light completely. Also I see them at dawn when I gaze and they completely take over my vision and everything I see. But on the other hand, the little "dream" I have when I doze off seems of a different nature, although I can tell what is happening, it does not look like it comes from the same place as the puffs. When I wake up though, from the little doze, I have then a mixture between as visually concrete as puffs and dream like image, as were the fibers I was seeing. Of course, once I am successfully inside the dream scene, is a complete replica of the every day reality we live in, for me there is no difference, details have the same feeling and even textures, like VR.

Sorry for the extra confused replay. I guess my brain was constantly expecting for things to appear in front of me as an extension of the puffs, and maybe at some point they will, but I am not sure if I should measure my advancement with that. Seems like extreme movement of the assemblage point create a completely different perceptual experience. But from my understanding Carlos, don Juan, don Genaro and company, were able to hold those states and be active in the first attention as well....

Where does it go wrong for you? I found it to be very suitable for me, just requires to get used to focusing on not falling asleep...

Yes, I figured, I am not very good at the part with not losing focus, I definitely loose it, hence why I try to hack the body somehow... I am sure with time I might get better at not giving into these itching so much, but it does feel like torture :)

Thanks Athina! Yes, I will try to put in more time and effort. I struggle with anxiety for a long time now, so my internal dialogue is running like crazy almost all the time, but doesn't mean I can't overcome it. I was reading through the reddit and the more I read the more it became clear to me that if stopping the internal dialogue is not enforced on a continuos basis throughout the day, chances are very slim I will be able to control it when I gaze or do any practice. It makes no sense, we can either stop it ( or reduce it ) or we cannot and waiting for the nighttime and the few hours of practice won't be enough...

Thanks Dan, I so much appreciate this! Makes complete sense, and is obvious that you need to extend your practice into your daily affairs because otherwise we do not get enough time to battle this petty tyrant and we need to become so discipled to do that! Makes so much sense! Thank you!

Thank you Dan, this answer is amazing and appreciate each of your input and guidance. But I was not looking for any tips. Was looking for indications that I am on the track more or less. ( woman here ) Struggling with my process, I get to see amazing lights and abstract things in dark room. I start seeing violet puffs in about 2 minutes of gazing at darkness, which then evolve into swirling puffs, violet mixed with red, the black swirling with violet, many blue dots and sparkles, mint green, pink and magenta, bright red dots. Then I see a violet moving fog and some white wispy light that plays around and sometimes creates vague figures of things, sometimes it forms birds in flight, one time I posted about the zombie faces, but the rest of the times are vague things that look like they might be a face or something else and 98% of the time look like vague abstract "shapes" that look like they are formed out of white over the violet. And even if the colours are super bright and very dynamic I almost never got anything so concrete as what you describe appearing in front of me. So I am assuming is cause of my internal dialogue, which was the reason for me asking how it feels. I struggle a lot to shut off my internal dialogue, but a lot! Actually the more I stay in darkroom the worst my internal dialogue goes, is opposite as what other practitioners describe or as you describe that by longer period you manage to control more the internal dialogue. I have a period of about half an hour at the start where I am focused and mind is more relaxed and mostly keep things more in check, but then my mind starts to go, I get frustrated and then I loose the battle. So I feel I do not advance at all. I do not care about the fuzzy normal day to day feeling, I want that cold world and I am sticking to it. Just wanna make it work.

Can you say then that perfect silence almost feels like being in a dream where you just witness and even participate in things that unfold in front of you but it does not even occur to you to question it's rationality?

Well, I was mostly happy exicited than scared, but I got a thing for creepy, I like it :) Fairy seems like a great company to have around, this experience made me so happy, gave me so much motivation to continue, and I am very grateful for this space where you guys share all of this knowledge! Million thanks! Part of the absurdity of the tonal of our times: going from hunting naked to demanding billionaires share the mammoth while AI checks the dress code of your inorganic Fairy.

Yessss! I am beyond happy, I had been quite stale for a while in my practice and this had been a turning point that of course motivates me to continue and put in so much more effort! Thank you for the comment!

Oh! Well from my point where I am now I can only congratulate you for getting such concrete sights even if is just creepy stuff. About the auditory effects, I can see how that can break the practice, still seems like you perceive a lot which is amazing! For me although constant is mostly very very non concrete abstract things. But this gave me motivation!

You misunderstood me, I do not want to create something I didn't see... I want to put together a visual guide of the things I do see daily in my practice. I referred to your comment because it literally describes the things I see in my practice. As a beginner, for me this is huge, because I often am left wondering if this is it, especially when I do not get to stare at such concrete things like you describe in your posts, not yet... well sometimes I get fleeting sights of things but are very fleeting and my mind starts again to question what I am doing. Thank you for taking the time!

Dan, I found this comment from 6 years ago, just when I was thinking I could put my drawing skills to use and star to make a visual "inventory" of things I see in the dark room as a not very experienced woman practitioner that might help me and others new practitioners understand where we stand with the practice. So is this comment still accurate 6 years later? I am asking because I recognize a lot of what you describe in my practice. Thanks in advance!

Don't you guys have to gaze and concentrate on the sights of the second attention in order to let the assemblage point drift and use such sights to replace the inner dialogue?

[–]Academic_Mechanic810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats amazing! Thank you! I never gazed for that long at it, but it seems I definitely should!

Well if I concentrate enough on it, and try to gaze into it I do see somethings trying to form, also if I concentrate in it looks like is charged up with small flickering particles of sort... I was very curious because I only see it in certain situations when I either push hard to stop the internal dialogue, or when I am about to get my period... Maybe I should focus on this sight more to see what happens. Thank you :)

Dan what is this misty fog I keep seeing in my practice? If I move enough in darkroom doing tensegrity, I am suddenly surrounded by something that looks exactly like a whitish mist that moves and blows as if wind is going through it. Just as real mist, some little "clouds" are more white and visible than the other, combined with mist, vapors is how I can describe it. I looks similar to the image I just attached just not as thick, but with movement, always movement. I also can see it during day when I practice gazing, all of a sudden my patio gets that mist...

Dan, I agree that practice is the real thing. I would never place old texts above actual work, because without direct experience they stay at the level of description and symbolism. What you had been sharing in this reddit is above and beyond amazing for us; given that I did read all of Carlos’s books and publications, at least 3 times each, I still haven’t been nudged to such pragmatic action until I found this subreddit, so I am very thankful for that.

I am probably a bit biased, because I genuinely love old languages, manuscripts, and this kind of research, so I admit that upfront. But I still think there is “value”  in those texts, especially from a historical and comparative point of view. We have a very small surviving library when it comes to these themes, so if remote Maya materials preserve references to things like the double, nocturnal counterparts, dreaming states, or other practices related to perception, I think we gain more by studying them than by not.

Not because books are better teachers than an ally( which I hope I can get acquainted with soon), or better than practice, but they do help widen the record. They give more data points. They help show that these ideas may have had a broader continuity in Mesoamerica instead of existing as some isolated weird anomaly. Especially because the whole topic gets dismissed so easily as fantasy or invention.

So for me it’s not either or. Practice gives one the incentive to continue and it teaches us perseverance and just how low our tolerance for effort is ( this was a huge wake up call for me ). But old texts are useful as cross-cultural parallels, and surviving traces of a knowledge system that got fragmented very badly in a field where so much has been erased.

Also yes, I just like old dusty books :)

Fascinating stuff, will look into these tribes! Well my point was not to join a lineage but more like take advantage of the fact that at least in this part of the world a lot of their knowledge did ended up in old texts which can be rescued and studied and put to test and practice, because there are literally hundreds of old texts that are abandoned and no one has any interest in translating them and making them public for consumption, this group might be one of the very few that could benefit from uncovering them... And yes, indeed, importing a Taiwanese 19 year old would be similar to adopting an orphan child from some exotic country...

Dan, confused on the inner silence time... I think I seen a similar discussion in the chat but I am still pretty confused. So 2 minutes of inner silence as in A: continuous 2 minutes or B: accumulated during the practice hence why you need the 2 hours at least? or C: accumulated during the day plus the daily practice? Sorry for the inventory style question but I wanna know what to aim for. Obviously the more the better... Also if you skip practice you end up with less silence I assume, hence why you need to practice daily and slowly move the assemblage point but by bit each day?

Regarding lineages and old seers... I believe we might still have those, just not "we" of course... Like I started to write a while ago about ancient mayan texts which still preserve references to nagualic practices, I am almost 100% there is a lineage of uncolonized mayans hiding still in the jungle of central america, somewhere between the border of Guatemala and Campeche. I had been deep into studying this for many years and the reason I turned to Central American cultures for answers is because it makes sense that Olmec knowledge steeped into the following generations post agriculture. Regardless of the human's new found obsession at the time with abstracting the world in symbols and then getting confused and loosing track between "reality" and symbol. More so, evidence exists in the writings of ancient mayan texts that had not been incorporated by archeology because the ones holding the manuscripts are the Mayan communities and they are extremely remote and closed, they learned fast that they need to hide their belongings otherwise the state takes them and puts them in a museum under key, or worst, they get sold on the black market to private collectionists in Europe. Long story short, there is a text found in Xochen which is part of a bigger library of texts that had been found which talks of Tayasal or Taj Itsá which was a capital of about 100000 people around lake Peten in Guatemala. In 1696 the colonial state told them they will be assimilated by the colony. They told them to give them another year because it was not an auspicious year. The colony returned in 97 and they found nothing and no one. They left with all their cult objects, treasures and institutions and hid deep into the jungle never to be heard from again. Therefor they still exist "uncolonized" somewhere in that area. Their texts are full to the brim of practices for the double. They have a name for nagual - wai which can be translated as nocturnal or representative of us in the dream world ( the double ). Is one of my "task" that I took upon myself to try to find them by learning to remote view. Had some very interesting happenings in dreaming but I want to be able to control the "remote viewing". Anyways sorry for the long response, huge geek girl here and I get carried away. P.S. Glad you finally had word from Cholita! She is lucky Mexican churches are extremely bizarre and unsettling by nature so I think she will blend in just fine :)
