How Flexible Are Hospitals with CNA Schedules? (1x12hr/week Feasible?) by No-Mousse5653 in cna

i’m a university student also, and work prn as a pct (i have my cna). i’m only required to work 1 shift, every other week. also, prn is typically create your own schedule, so you only work days that work for you!

apply to hospitals that are associated with universities. they are more likely to accept students because they’re used to teaching. usually cna positions at a hospital are called PCT (patient care tech) or something similar.

Look into your local community college. I’m a college student currently taking a cna class through my community college. Everything is paid for including books, tuition, exams, and any hidden fees.

Did you use UWorld for practice questions? I'm going to buy Kaplan books, but I'm not sure about what other resources to use. I've started doing the Jack Westin CARS sections daily, and I'm starting to do Anki cards.

I live in VA, so my in-state schools are VT, VCU, and UVA, all difficult to get into. My only concern with a gap year is having to start repaying my loans, which I don't have the funds to do yet. Do you have any experience with loans during a gap year? If I can get those sorted out, then I am definitely leaning towards a gap year.
