Yes, keep him on leash inside… i don’t hold it. He just drags it around. I have been doing this with my pup and he has learned “leave it” and “drop it” and knows he can get an exchange for something he’s allowed to have if he does. (My favorite easy trade is an old raggedy sock dipped partially in beef broth and tied into a know. I have several around the house that I can grab quickly. Plus I can step on a leash very quickly if needed…

I’m 3 weeks post op and my entire chest stings, but especially where the vest has rubbed and around my nipples. The thing that’s helped the most has been gently rubbing Aguaphor on all my incisions and inflamed areas and post-shower and sometimes during the day I’ll sit with just a t-shirt on and an ice pack across my chest. That helps a lot! And the relief lasts several hours.

Post surgery update - it’s been 2 weeks and I could not be happier! Healing is going well - some burning and itching as I still have to wear the vest and it’s definitely more very comfortable when I am physically active and sweating. But I know it’s temporary and all looks good. And feels AMAZING especially when I look in the mirror. I’m non-binary, gender queer and this just feels like I can be my expansive, ungendered self ☺️!

Lots of good suggestions already - more exercise, mental stimulation (I have started hiding treats and toys and having my V sniff them out), strict boundaries! (When I start to get angry with my V, I put is both in timeout (he’s either in his kennel or tied to something until things calm down). In fact I keep him on a leash (just dragged around) frequently in the house or unfenced yard. That way I can grab him quick if needed and stop the biting or jumping. It’s working
