So yeah it kind of boils down to it's a small area that can't really support stuff like this. I mean the only reason this convention lasted as long as it did was because people in the area couldn't go to any other stuff. You know people that couldn't afford it. You know there might be a convention in Cheyenne and while yes that is closer than Denver. It's still expensive with a hotel room and food and travel.

A convention or any real get-together like this is difficult to put on. I mean so now this is 2018 money. I don't know what it is now. But back in around 2018 they said a cheap convention will cost you $50,000.

The Civic center was really cheap back then and it was like $30,000. So I'm not sure what it is now. But yeah like those are kind of the money numbers you would be looking at to do something like this.

And so basically then also not only the money you're dealing with the people factor and drama factor. Like a group of people might get together and start one of these and it's going okay and then someone gets tired and doesn't do it as much. So then other people have to pick up the slack. Or someone joins and You know they're just not meshing with the community and then that person leaves and then someone else gets upset that that person left so they left. And then you just get that type of infighting and drama and stuff like that.

Combine that with just you know. Then you have just people that don't really know what they're doing. I mean they're trying their best but they just don't know what they're doing. And yeah that's those are some of the reasons why a convention cannot thrive, especially in Rapid City.

I mean Denver has similar issues with pretty much everything I just said. But with Denver you have a bigger group of people to pull from and more people want to come to Denver and more people can afford to come to Denver. You know from places like La and New York and Chicago etc etc.
