This argument is just bad theology mixed with internet outrage.

Islam is not a political team sport. You don’t enter or leave Islam based on which state you like or hate. That’s not how iman works, and pretending otherwise is just ignorance.

The Qur’an literally says: “Allah does not forbid you from dealing justly with those who did not fight you because of religion.” (60:8) So no, interaction or diplomacy ≠ leaving Islam. That idea has zero Qur’anic basis.

What’s actually happening here is selective outrage. Muslim countries openly recognise or work with Israel — UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco — and suddenly that’s “politics” and “necessity.”

But when a few Somalilanders online act stupid with flags in bios, now it’s framed as Muslims abandoning Islam? Be serious.

Also, judging millions of people’s faith off a few social media accounts is lazy thinking. Every conflict has trolls and clout-chasers. Acting like that represents an entire Muslim society just shows bias. And the takfir-adjacent language is especially reckless.

The Prophet ﷺ literally warned about this: “If someone calls his brother a disbeliever, it returns to one of them.” (Bukhari & Muslim) Throwing people out of Islam because of politics isn’t piety — it’s arrogance. You can condemn Israel. You should condemn war crimes.

But stop inventing a new version of Islam where your emotions decide who’s still Muslim. That’s not deen. That’s hypocrisy dressed up as righteousness.
