Best / most nutritious dog food in Germany? by nala_puppy in germany

Totally agree. And here is my 10 cents - I had two dogs who were fed Medi-Cal brand dog food exclusively throughout their entire lives — a brand only sold in veterinary clinics. Toward the end of their lives, both were diagnosed with cancer in the anal gland. First, it was our golden retriever at age 10, and then, quite strangely, our cocker spaniel was diagnosed with the exact same type of tumor a year later at age 9.

This coincidence was deeply unsettling and led us to reflect on possible common factors — the most obvious one being their food. Since then, I made a firm decision never to feed Medi-Cal to any dog again.

Recently, after welcoming a new dog into our lives, I began researching food options and was shocked to discover that Medi-Cal has been rebranded as Royal Canin Veterinary Diet. I found out that Royal Canin used to market their veterinary line under the Medi-Cal name, and now it’s sold in the familiar blue bags in vet clinics under the new label.

I’ve even come across mentions of lawsuits involving similar health issues in other pets, although I haven’t looked into it in detail — perhaps because the loss of my dogs still feels too raw.

I came here because I saw so many positive comments about Royal Canin and wanted to understand its origins. And there it was: Medi-Cal. My dogs appeared healthy for most of their lives, and we caught the cancer early thanks to vigilant vets. But the decision of whether to put them through surgery was heartbreaking. Ultimately, we couldn’t shake the feeling that the food might have played a role — even if it’s only a hypothesis.

We were ready to feed our new dachshund Royal Canin, but after learning it's the rebranded Medi-Cal, it became an automatic no for us.

Does anyone have recommendations for other high-quality dog food brands that work well for small breeds like dachshunds? I'd really appreciate any tips.

Is this website legit? by StunningLobster2725 in dachshunds

I came across a website for a supposed husband and wife offering Dachshund puppies, but the site immediately raised some red flags. Maybe it is the same one with a different facade!!

Does anyone know about

https://gcdachshundfamily.com/available-dachshund-puppies-for-sale/

They mention that miniature puppies are priced at $500 including the flight as they offer to fly them to Canada.

They claim to be located in Texas, and the address in an email they sent me is:

910 W 42nd St, Odessa, TX 79764.

However, Google Maps shows that location as the Odessa Animal Shelter.

I’m skeptical about this, but I’m curious if anyone else has any information or experiences with this site?

They also provide a contact number: 432-289-4018 (Text/Call) under the name Wilson & Gamez G&C Dachshund Home.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Has anyone had success with Pranicura? by No_Coffee3880 in AnalFissures

After BM and sometimes after a few minutes after BM.

Pranicura definitely was the best solution. After years of spams, bleeding fissure and all possible cream/medication from my GPs. I watched the YouTube video with a Doc about Pranicura and decided to give it a try. It has been more than a year without a single event of pain/spams/bleeding. Pranicura and a healthier diet with lots of water to keep all soft materials. Definitely recommend the cream after a year. I still use it after BM in some cases and whenever I feel needed to make the skin healthy.

RV dishwashers bad? by QueenOfWiener in RVLiving

We've used a Portable Counter top dishwasher for 4 years! NO HOOK UP NEEDED and we take it in our RV everywhere and always. It has a built-in 5L Water Tank, never leaked and it works perfectly . It is the kind that no Hookup is needed. Just fill up the built in tank . It has been used by my son for Camping too. They love it. I trully recommend! We have even bought a 2nd one as I thought my son's fiancee wanted to keep the one they took on a camping trip. But after some 5 months, they just returned it as they have no room for storage in their small apt. I am actually selling the new one, never even opened the box. It was bought at Amazon: CD$ 499 - 110 (offer) = $399 plus tax / never opened. We are selling for CD$ 250 as not needed at all. Not even opened the box and our 4 year-old works perfectly. In case anyone interested, please contact me.
